A woman now can't have an abortion in America, but the U.S. Supreme Court will happily defend the right of murderers to have firearms to kill their children.

I’m not at all a student of US politics but it seems to me that either the Supreme Court or the way it is selected is way past it’s sell by date. They have come with two decisions within the space of a few days that on the face of it are out of line with US public opinion.

 

They will simply go outside the country to get the abortion.

 

The country is in thrall to religious fundamentalists who deny science, common sense, morality and are every bit as backward as the Islamic fundamentalists at the other side of the world. The place is going to hell in a handcart.

 

There are state laws that make that illegal, even crossing state lines. To say nothing about women who simply wouldn't be able to afford it.

 

And sadly, we've a significant part of our population that wants to be in their gravitational pull rather than Europe.

What about the pregnant girls human rights, but then again the argument then asks over the unborn child's human rights. It's huge debate I suppose.

 

But look on the bright side. There's no way our government would ever repeal human rights. Thank goodness we have a human rights act.... oh... hang on...

This decision has been roundly condemned by Americans across the nation including the current President. Trying to paint all Americans as backwards Bible thumpers to push pro-EU rhetoric is nothing short of pathetic.

Its not all Americans. Just the majority of the voters in the middle Red states. They are also after contraception and gay equality next. Roughly 74 million in the States support this.

 

I believe that it's now down to the state to decide. Its not been outlawed at a national level.

 

So the Supreme Court says that the 2nd Amendment must be upheld and is removing States laws in opposition to the right to bear arms but saying that States are allowed to set abortion laws.... Land of the free.....
