Been retired for 12 years so working would seem a bit weird to me. Anyway enjoy it mate you probably are due the rest.
Congrats. Am 56, and wanted to retire at 58. Not lazy, just enjoy life too much. Sadly I calculated this week that actual retirement will be closer to 71.
Enjoy your retirement NYR I hope its filled with contentment happiness and good health and allows you the time to pursue your hobbies and of course, allows you to take in the many sights and places that may be on offer. ....all the very best
Just past retirement age but still working, self employed. Enjoying it ! You make the best of it too.
I've retired three times! Firstly from the RAF in 1994. Then I worked for a company for three years before taking up the second MOD career as a Civil Servant. Retired the second time in 2011 but then started driving upmarket cars for a local firm in Princes Risborough, ferrying people to and from London, the airports, etc etc Called that a day when I migrated up north in 2013 but came out of retirement again to work for M&S for a couple of years. Finally retired from there and that's it! Except.....I'm going to work for the RIAT at RAF Fairford next month but this is only a short term, and voluntary, arrangement. I get to see the best airshow in the world over four days while occasionally having to do a bit of work around the public seating enclosures. Can't wait for that as it is 20 years since I last worked there.
congratulations Hope you enjoy it Any Plans? I'm thinking about when I can retire, was planning on 60 which is next year but doing some calculations on what we need to live on and having to revise them upwards thanks to galloping inflation as my income wont really go up once I retire, unless I speed up on drawdowns - it would be helpful to know how long I had left on this Earth to help me decide
Many congratulations, old mate. That first winter after I retired was particularly bad and I was so glad I didn't have to negotiate the heavy snow both to and from work!
