Cheers everybody, good advice ,got the hobbies, photography, gardening ,reading out with the dog and planning on taking up fishing again! Be strange setting my own day though!
Just out of interest what sum would people think is enough to live on comfortably per year. I define comfortable as not having to count every penny, take a couple of foreign holidays a year and replace your car every 4 years. I am 58 and considering retiring but I am worried about how much is needed per annum.
That’s a million dollar question! You should know what your current outgoings are. The missing bits are: What you won’t need post retirement Would you downsize Are you planning to live just from an income or with a nest egg to take from Are foreign holidays a fortnight in Benidorm or a Caribbean cruise? I worked out I can live on about £15k gross, that’s w no debt other than a car, but with a nest egg that’ll cover my treats till I reach 67 at which point my income will increase. But my Mrs will still be working have a larger income, and a larger pension.
And congrats NYR I’m hoping to go in approx 18months, but the closer it gets the more I think about a bit of pt for a year to boost the income for a bit more contingency.
Iam retiring this Saturday 2nd July 6 months early and can't wait. Can get to the Reds games now without any rushing about to get there.
