Yorkshire CCC are taking applications for a Financial Controller … details are on web site.

Just thought there may be some likely candidates on the BBS who are wanting a real challenge !

A good start in reply and then eight wickets gone for fifty eight runs. We've got lucky with the points deduction getting us through.

    How awful was that performance.
Knew I shouldn't have opened my big gob with my previous post. away it is then to Surrey. .

the fielding was decent, the batting apart from Lyth very ordinary and the bowling abysmal.
I’d let the batters off though because they usually bale us out.
Boy do we need a new attack for next year!

What annoys the **** out of me is that the bowlers just don't seem to learn. They were crap the other night against Birmingham and pretty much the same today.

I hope Root and Bairstow are begging to be allowed to play. Surrey will murder us and we've never played them before in the T20 which after twenty years is a crazy stat about the two biggest counties.

It’s mainly because we’ve often not qualified from Northern Group or have been knocked out in quarters.
At least they won’t have one Curran or Roy

Half six start on Wednesday at Surrey. It's the first of the quarters. Birmingham vs Hampshire is on Thursday. Friday is Lancashire vs Essex. Saturday is Somerset vs Derbyshire.

I haven’t done any analysis but it seems to me that we don’t win when fielding first, so why do we put the opposition in when we win the toss ?

I’m obviously old fashioned but it used to be always bat first in any format.

Stats may prove me wrong so over to you DB

They’d have a better chance of playing, if it was against anyone but Surrey. They will also be missing Roy, Curran, Jordan and Topley

Willey looks a forlorn figure. No wonder he's about to escape. He's not been over impressive himself btw.
But not given the proper tools to work with of late.

If we were able to field our best 11. We'd be more than a match for anyone. I'd hazard a guess no other county suffers with as many losses of 1st teamers as we do.

    https://www.espncricinfo.com/team/yorkshire-1464/match-results

Worcs on May 25th was the first of our 14 games. So going through them if I have them correct......

    Game 1: Chased and won.
    Game 2: Chased and tied.
    Game 3: Chased and lost.
    Game 4: Defended and lost.
    Game 5: Chased and won.
    Game 6: Defended and won.
    Game 7: Chased and lost.
    Game 8: Chased and won.
    Game 9: Defended and won.
    Game 10: Defended and lost.
    Game 11: Chased and won.
    Game 12: Defended and won.
    Game 13: Chased and lost.
    Game 14: Chased and lost.

So our seven wins (50%) come with a 4 and 3 split in favour of chasing. One plus is we have Finn Allen available this week. Willey sounds like he wish he could leave already.......

I don't think Mallan or Allen have performed well, as for the other international players missing, I'm more then happy for us to ditch signing expensive players who cause such selection disruption - rather have unsung players like Thomson any day.

It begs the question of would we prefer to have no internationals ?

It’s a problem that all the bigger counties have had and always will have.
We don’t seem to do right well for overseas players but it can’t be easy coming to play just a few games in a foreign country with unknown players.

By the way I think you’re right in that we lose more than any other county ( even Surrey .. just ! )

    Is Shadab staying ?
Pakistan haven’t got any ODI’s this summer and he’s not in test squad

I knew you wouldn’t let me down …. many thanks even though it proved nothing conclusively.

I knew that we won the toss in last two games, decided to field and lost both.

    Cheers again
