Thanks for being so courteous Bro Kettlewell.
Take your point re the Greek hitting the ball into the crowd. Whether that was worthy of a disqualification is debatable, in my opinion.
I agree that the umpire was incompetent. He lost control and should have penalised K several times.
Once for calling some guy in the crowd a w**nker, once for using the f word (audible to the whole crowd) and once for verbal abuse of tbe umpire. He was also reported twice by the line judges for something he said. Incompetence indeed by the umpire. failure to take control.
As for his reputation, he's forged that intentionally over the years. In the first round here this year he spat at someone in the crowd and also verbally abused another spectator.
The man is arrogant, disrespectful and ignorant.
One of the things I love about tennis is the respect players have for each other. Unlike many other sports the players are magnanimous and humble in victory and complimentary to opponents during matches.
Look at Norrie and Paul today and Sinner and Alcaraz......completely different attitude to tbe game. Applauding good shots by opponents.
Call me old fashioned but in any sport there's no room for winding up and disrespecting the opposition or the officials.

I think the hitting the ball into the crowd intentionally is just a black and white rule. Which I belive was the point Kyrgois was making. Though subsequently the match ref seemed to be saying as nobody was hurt then it was just a warning.
Ultimately both men should be ashamed of themselves. Kyrgois for being the total tit he always is and Tsitsipas for sinking down to his level.

I was surprised he was still there given his admission at spitting at a fan in the previous round.

Totally agree 55, if I watch tennis I watch the French and Australian opens. I wonder if the Tour organisers wanted to construct a situation for publicity. Although the english media make a big deal every July,I understand that the other competitions are viewed better by the players.
It may have been better but unusual if they had both been disqualified, because of their behaviour. Well done to Norrie for winning today,it can't be easy having the pressure of being last man standing .
Hope your week goes well 55.

I think so too though swearing at the spectators and officials is also a black and white rule and had the Umpire defaulted Kyrgios in the first set when he should have done the game wouldnt have got as far as Tsitsipas hitting the ball into the crowd - for the umpire to ignore the rules for one player and apply them for the other would be worse.

The thing I find really frustrating is Kyrgios is a brilliant player and amazing to watch but I dont normally watch him because he is such an obnoxious pr1ck. Nightmare scenario for me would be a Djokovic Kyrgios final - one where I would want both players to lose

Do you know what I hate. Adults queuing up to get something signed as the players are leaving the court. You know that's going on eBay as soon as they get home.

How civilised this is. To start a thread on here and not see any personal abuse and derogatory comments posted in response.
I guess we both want the same thing. Norrie to win Wimbledon.

There's a great video of Dave Grohl explaining to some "fans" that he's not going to sign any autographs outside his hotel because he knows they're just going to sell them,

Back to the tennis did anyone watch the Mixed Doubles between Murray/Williams v O'Mara and Barnett yesterday - I just caught the last set - the match was only available online (iplayer or Website) and it was brilliant entertainment.
Id have gone back and watched the first 2 sets a bit later but annoyingly the feeds disappear once the last match is finished and only seem to be available on catch up the next day and its a bit late then

Part and parcel of most. if not all sports. Getting better re the offensive stuff. Which has to de driven out.
But there can be banter (as sometimes in the workplace) between players on the pitch for example that offend no one. Please let's not take that away. I've no doubt it went off against New Zealand during the tests. but the respect shown by each side was great to see.

I love Wimbledon. It provides more drama and entertainment than about 70/80% of football matches. As for Kyrgios- his attitude stinks but boy can he play. I would love him to take a tournament seriously for once, there is no doubt he could blast Nadal or Djokovic off court if he just put it together. For that reason I hope he wins it, but if he misbehaves as badly as he did on Saturday he has no chance.

I'll be surprised if Kyrgios sees the game out. Struggling with his shoulder.

    Agree re Wimbledon.
Kyrgios - despite his obvious talent he should have been banned for longer periods than he has actually been banned for. Look at his Wikipedia page. Tanking, spitting at people (which is actually a criminal offence), verbal abuse....Its unbelievable that the Tennis Authorities haven't been stricter with him.

all for the banter; draw the line at abusing others and the lack of respect.

Nice to see Djokovic going straight over the net to check Sinner was OK after he'd looked to have sprained his ankle after winning an amazing point.

Born in South Africa, lived in New Zealand even representing them at Tennis. If he wins it good for him, but it won't feel like when Murray won it twice or if Henman had ever won it.
