No worries. Interesting how split it is between every scenario. It doesn't seem to matter than much as we can win/lose just as much chasing as defending. It's not like our seven wins came with five or six of them doing one thing or the other.
Don't forget that two of the batting first losses were in the rain-affected games against Derbyshire though. Take those out and I think it supports the theory of batting first. Not that I hold out much hope of beating Surrey with our pop-gun lightweight bowling attack anyway! Willey being absent might help from a captaincy perspective 'cos he's clearly fallen out big time with Gough over not having any fast/death bowling options and being told to bowl Shadab over all the (no worse) spinners that we already had. DW's body language yesterday was as bad as Callum Brittain at Blackpool last season. Had a quick word with the guy Doidgy who does the comms for Radio Leeds/Yorkshire You Tube after the game yesterday - he says the ECB put something out a couple of weeks back that said no England players will be available for Blast QFs or Finals Day but will be made available for Hundred Finals Day. It, the ECB that is, stinks.
the 100 is a big payday for the top players even if they don't play them all so they are bound to be released for some, ecb needs a big rethink after the fan turn out of their t20 tournament, this too is getting franchised in stealth
https://yorkshireccc.com/news/view/...sGdyeVsDQg2d0ngKVgen2uZ5YSdeB6LMbJ2prCjoc3RuI Feeling a bit more confident after reading that. 9 of their 10 wins came in their first ten games so they have dropped off a bit, are missing their captain like we are and missing their top two wicket takers.
Surrey will be without Jordan but Pope is straight in. They also lose Roy, Topley and Sam Curran. Tom Curran may play but not sure to bowl
A couple missing for Surrey but still a strong and experienced squad with a number of T20 specialists, unlike Yorkshire really having to scrape together a bowling attack. Somehow Pope is available and they are allowed to use 6 'overseas' players in their squad. Ah well, at least Yorkshire produce world class players for the Test team. FULL SQUAD Will Jacks (c) Gus Atkinson Rory Burns Tom Curran Laurie Evans Aaron Hardie Tom Lawes Conor McKerr Dan Moriarty Sunil Narine Jamie Overton Ollie Pope Jamie Smith Cameron Steel Dan Worrall
If I was Root and Bairstow I'd be banging Gaffers door down demanding a 24 hour pass to represent my county, the county who helped putting where they are today. It's only 20/20. Get the lads released.
Bit of an update from one of the cricket sites - it's reported that Root had asked and been made available to play. Not sure of all the timing of this but I guess there's time to add him to the squad tomorrow if he's not too stiff after today. Bairstow won't be allowed to play under any circumstances it seems.
The first ODI isn't until next Tuesday, I'm sure they're not going to get much out of 7 days rest that they can't get from 6! It's the ECB role in this that is bent though - no need at all to have these schedule clashes if they weren't hell-bent on undermining county cricket to promote the Dumbdred. There's no international games at all for the first two weeks of that pantomime charade.
Totally get your point but was just pointing out that Pope hasn’t got an international game until about August so they’ve no justifiable control over him
what about the integrity of the t20 and vitality as the main sponsor must be scratching their heads, this is just our game, not read into the other 3 games then finals day, is it going to become like the royal london cup? and ffs it's 90mins in the field and whatever batting, perhaps rolling subs could be an idea moving forward in domestic games
