Hello, I've never used the main carpark, but now my dad has a new hip and knee I think the walk from the East Deane is probably a bit much. How long does it generally take to get out at the end? Also, do you just book online through the box office for one-off games? Any general comments on experiences of using it? Ta.
The carpark stewards fill it from the stand down. So arrive late and park near the bottom (next to the gate) if you want to avoid the jam getting out. Last time me and my Dad went in the car was the Fleetwood JPT game and we were still queuing to get out nearly an hour after the game.
As others have said getting out of the main car park is a nightmare and can easily take an hour - I used to always park in East Dene but when my Dad had a problem with his knee I tried the main car park, but after a couple of games we gave up on that and went to the Riding for Disabled car park its a much flatter walk and a bit shorter though the main difference really is the lack of the hill on Oakwell lane. Dad has recovered enough now to go back to East Dene which is a better getaway though the Riding for Disabled isnt too bad as long as you dont want to go back up Oakwell or back past the ground, especially if you go past the Main and back to Stairfoot rather than Cundy Cross. If you do want to use the main car park you need to book in advance but I am not sure how it worked last season as they changed things we last did it in the pre covid season when you could still pay on the day
Lots of folk leave and pick up an elderly or infirm relative at the gates of riding for the disabled to save the short hill there
Yes I should have mentioned that - its what I did the first couple of times I used it for Dad - then he decided he was OK to manage that small hill which is much easier than Oakwell lane
My neighbour takes me to night matches. We park as close as possible to the exit (south end) of carpark. Leave game at final whistle walk to car and usually drive straight off. No hassel at all. We do get there early though. Time for a few pints.
