What do we think the lads 27yrs we will be is last chance to play at a decent level you would think. The two senior Strikers are about or have already left massive season for him with a strong management team in place I hope we may see the best of him this season or am I been too optimistic.
who knows. football is a weird game. with the right coaching and an early goal or two, he might finding his scoring boots. we only need 1 good season. anything is possible. I think it's easy to forget the difference in quality between L1 and Championship
Two decent seasons in his career - one in the SPL and the other at L1 level. The lad can definitely finish when he's on song, so it's definitely not beyond the realms of possibility that he'll get into double figures next season, but it's by no means a given. He seems to have struggled for consistency his whole career, for whatever reason.
There is a chance he could hit double figures in the league with the right service. With the creativity we should have from midfield and wide areas (if the Cadden rumours are legit) our strikers should in theory get a good amount of service. Before the Morris news broke last night, a new striker wasn't a main priority in my eyes, but now I think it is a must. With Morris playing alongside Cole or Iseka with the other on the bench, we might have had enough there to be decent at this level. Without Morris in the picture, we have Cole and Iseka as the main two with youngsters on the bench. We are desperate for a striker or two now IMO.
Nowhere near good enough. Get shut. Harsh I know but if we rely on him for goals I’d say bottom half is pretty much guaranteed
The lad isn't good enough for our club and I still can't get over the fat controller giving him a 3 year deal. 27 years old and 2 decent ish seasons albeit one was at a mickey mouse level in Scotland. Even Kane Hemmings managed to bag a few north of the border. Sorry but get shut please.
Our strikers need to get us 40+ goals this season if we have any hope of a promotion push. With Cole and Iseka that *could* happen, but it’s far more likely one or both will get fewer than 10. Prior to the Morris news I would have wanted us to replace either Cole or Iseka if we could afford it, someone new in and one of those 2 out, it would be safer than risking our season on 2 strikers who last season didn’t turn up. Now Morris is going we have to replace him and still maybe bring in one other in It’s a long way to go before the season starts, I trust the spreadsheet, it’s found us some decent strickers in the past.
No aerial threat, no real body strength - he would be no more than a squad player in my eyes, someone to bring on perhaps when already comfortably ahead against a tired defence, but not if we are behind and need to chase the game. Vic was better at the latter. Was a strange deal bringing him in for three years. My City mates had a chuckle as he hardly made a mark with them. Looked decent as a young loanee, but always a big ask to follow in his fathers footsteps.
I think he can probably get into double figures in League one - massive drop off in defenders quality between the two leagues.
Cole and Iseka's biggest problem is that a lot of fans have already made their minds up about them based on fleeting appearances in one of our worst seasons ever. If Duff believes in them and gives em a settled run I could see Cole getting 15 goals but I'm sure he'll miss a few too which unfortunately will have fans instantly on his back.
Iseka has potential and if Duff can get the best out of him he could do OK for us. Im less sure about Cole though he may be OK at league 1. The big problem last season was a total lack of forward ambition from the coaches and so no striker was going to look good. Hopefully this season we will actually try and score which gives us a chance. That said we need at least one new striker to replace Woodrow and Morris
If Morris goes, I've seen nothing in any of our remaining strikers to suggest that they will get anywhere near to threatening the defences of other teams in this league let alone scoring a necessary weight of goals. We are leaving ourselves with an even worse group than that which was outclassed by Bolton and (Morris apart) had it's backside whupped by ten man division 4 cellar-dwelling Barrow last season imho. Struggling to understand the complacency on here about L1 tbh. I like the Duff appointment but he can't work miracles.
Let's be honest, if his surname wasn't Cole, he wouldn't be a professional footballer. He is not good enough and if he spends the season as our first choice forward, we are going nowhere.
