BBC saying ‘the PM now finds himself in a very precarious position’. Fk me. Precarious position? What does it actually take for him to be deemed in ‘a completely untenable position’? Do they have to find some dodgy photos on his laptop?!?!
What a day to be alive. The two most important people Boris has in the cabinet announcing they are gone within twenty minutes of one another.
Not necessarily so, the fall-out from this as Boris’s cronies are dragged kicking and screaming from their ministerial positions could drag on for ages. The Tory Right-wing won’t just lie down.
"I have also developed radical new approaches to dementia, cancer and mental health" I guess not treating them is quite radical. Not very effective though.
https://m.skybet.com/politics/conservative-party/event/24455769 Who do you want from that lot when Boris goes?
Yes, the only saving grace is that the party was purged of anyone serious during the UKIP coup which allowed only ideologically pure to continue representing the Tory party.
This is total melt down now. A bridge too far. They clearly know he is been lying & bluffing for over 12 months re Partygate, the row back on the deal that he agreed with the EU & his "oven ready" deal re Northern Ireland & the general way he has appointed people not fit for office. Even I'm surprised how quickly the wheels have come off, but grief i cannot think of anyone less fit for public office than Boris Johnson. It's time Starmer got his act together too & published a genuine vision to get out of the **** storm Johnson has lead us into with his bluster, Jingoism & half truths / bare faced lies. We need some proper messaging from Labour now. The Tory press can not spin them out of this hole. I think Raab may end up taking the baton, if Javid doesn't, as Sunak is dead in the water as I see it. His letter says as much. He doesn't really need the money after all.
Why have they both resigned then? Because Boris employed someone as Deputy Chief Whip who wasn't fit for the post? Well they both knew he wasn't. Pincher's past is a matter of public record and they were happy to work alongside him all this time. Or have they resigned because Boris admitted he knew he wasn't fit for the post? Which means, in reality, they've resigned due to a conservative party official, for once, admitting the truth.
As a Labour supporter, Liz Truss would be good for a laugh. Ben Wallace is the only one on the list I'd be vaguely worried about, but as I've said earlier Labour need to get a clear plan together. I'm not seeing it at the moment.
They’ve not resigned because he got the job, or because Johnson finally told the truth. They’re resigned because he did an absolutely terrible job about lying. It’s fine to tell the truth sort of if you do it well and sound contrite but it’s even better to lie properly. It’s that bit he’s failed on too many times. He doesn’t know how to handle a sticky situation like a proper politician. (The real reason is what Marc said).
Just watching the ITV news and another political statement in the background by the cat on the windowsill licking it’s @rse !
