Sad to see them go would have liked both to have stayed.
When we signed both those players I recall loads and loads of people on this board saying how bad a record they have and they're not good enough.
Roll on 4 and 3 years and the 2 lads have moved on to further there career and there pockets.
In the next day or 2 Barnsley will sign 2 more strikers I would assume. Some on the board will slate these players and state they're not good enough before even seeing them.2 or 3 years down the line these players will move on to further there career and there pockets. We'll then bring in strikers to replace them and that is the cycle of football.
I was gutted when we sold Bradshaw but in my opinion we signed an even better replacement in Woodrow.Be sad tonight for losing Morris if you want but the football cycle will already be in motion.

An upbeat take, as always. But the plain fact is that the team has not seen the gradual improvement that was promised after the takeover. The finances, according to some of the well-informed on here are not in a good state. Hard to see us starting the season with a squad capable of competing for promotion against this backdrop. That's not being negative, it's being realistic.

Morris going is a reyt kick in the knackers. Our recent record of signing strikers (him apart) is sh17e to say the least. Just hope Duff has identified a new number 9/10. If we're even going to compete we either need a 15-20 goal striker or a midfield chipping in with 6-8 each.

I thought I was being realistic too.I haven't got over Ronnie Glavin leaving so I don't get as attached nowadays.

Can I jump on this trend too and say that some people will criticise a singing we make in 2036 and they will be wrong too. Likewise we will sign someone like Palmer and those who's glasses are overflowing will be wrong on that.

There's no pleasure to take in seeing players not work out so very rarely will those predicting it be happy to find their prediction was correct.

Only negative prediction I hope is right is that Smith is a massive failure at the deedars

I suppose it's up to all of us as to what we can stomach in terms of the way the club is run. At the end of the day we can all decide whether we want to part with our hard-earned.

Ultimately, it all depends on who comes in to replace two popular players. They could be from the U23's, or brought in from outside the club. Perhaps they'll be a little & large double act (Thomas, Robson/Evans, Aylott/Parker, Wilkinson/Hendrie), or two more mobile strikers (Richards,Hayes/Nardiello, Fletcher/Winnall).
I feel they'll be a hard act to follow.

I’d say that the first team has strengthened in pretty much every transfer window where we’ve had a CEO in place, but two summers of Conway have negated that, with the last summer completely ripping up the back room staff as well.

Better to judge after all inward and outward deals are completed in my view.

Hes been a let down for the last 18 months or more, so Im not too disappointed to see Woodrow go. Although for just 750k, I hoped we'd get more than that.
Morris however was one of last seasons triers, and I expected us to keep him. But no, here we are selling him off cheaply as well I suppose, and to a club like Luton again.

A fee around 2 million is cheaply?

Is it 2 mill though, yes Id begrudgingly say thats a very good deal if it were true. But we can never be sure with these undisclosed fees.

It is inevitable that players with Championship pedigree will go. Especially after a relegation pay cut. More of our better players are likely to leave. We may make enough cash to attract one or two better league one players to replace them.

What, in the state of our finances, gave you the expectation that we'd keep him?

Well I hoped (rather than expected) we'd be able to keep him, first of all by getting rid of the higher earners.
And I hoped they would keep him or at least try to, because of what an important player he is for us.
