It’s been happening for years but seems magnified more this year because of playing seven tests and numerous white ball games. On top of that, there appears the Hundred which will be scrapped in a few years. I have yet to hear any real reason why our domestic game needs it ! Our season is congested enough which is unlike the other countries who have no such problem with having only one 20 over type league. We have two !!
https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/...ped-of-all-that-s-good-about-the-game-1323204 Great piece and spot on. Interestingly it was only written an hour ago and they claim Root is allowed to play. We shall wait and see.
It was written yesterday mate when the supposed deal with Root and Pope was in place before the ECB reneged on the Root part sadly. It is a good article.
ECB are trying to look good when the truth will be Willey wasn't picked for tomorrow night for England.
Would be between him and Curran for the all rounder spot. Guessing it's gone to Curran. I'm hoping that they release Gleeson for Friday (my username will give a clue as to why), or at least pick him, rather than leave him out as well as miss county games like they did with Wood.
Just realised that Curran, Topley and Willey are lefties so all three won’t play… like you say, Curran will play as all rounder
Yeah, Curran will probably bat at 7, and Topley will be the death bowler. Big miss for Surrey, Curran's been in good form this year, particularly with the bat. Hence him being picked for England over Willey.
Surrey win toss and put Yorkshire in to bat Surrey Will Jacks(c) Rory Burns Ollie Pope(wk) Laurie Evans Sunil Narine Jamie Overton Aaron Hardie Tom Curran Gus Atkinson Daniel Worrall Daniel Moriarty Yorkshire Vikings Adam Lyth Finn Allen Tom Kohler-Cadmore(wk) David Willey(c) Will Fraine Shadab Khan Jonathan Tattersall Jordan Thompson George Hill Matthew Revis Dom Bess
I get the impression they’ve written this off already. Two shocking dismissals for the openers. Going to be hard to win this, but you never know….
Bizarre that Wiley goes out in borrowed kit. You’d think they would have a few spares in the basket without names on. And what’s with the covered up badge on the helmet? Hasn’t he got his own with the Yorkshire badge on?
