I reckon he wanted out towards the end of last season Helen when he was running his blood to water and those around him just didn't have the same fight. That, coupled with the opportunity to stay in the Championship. Can't blame him for going, but i don't think it's a reflection on Duff. Just my thoughts.
Crikey. This is an interesting and negative takeaway from his transfer. im not saying the manager is amazing or terrible as of course we don’t know. But to wonder whether a player leaving for (probably) better money in a higher league with a team who were in the play offs last year. and was pictured playing golf during our last game of the season when apparently injured is a potential reflection on our manager is about the most negative stretch anyone could conjure up.
Really surprised at the shock and reaction here Thought Neerav was pretty transparent in the press conference and fan forum where we are from a financial point and that we’d have to listen to decent offers.
https://www.lutontown.co.uk/news/2022/july/morris-interview/ Not a great endorsement of Duff or our new signings.
Just musing obviously we had 2 rubbish managers last season, Duff is up and coming, building a good team here hopefully as he did at Cheltenham. Would that not be some incentive for Morris to want to stay?
He made a few points. The money put in was so we didn't need to sell early, They would look at offers for the 1 year contracted players (Woodrow, Helik). To sell would need to be a crazy offer (he used a different word). Helik and Styles are both leaving. I think fans aren't going to get annoyed by that. But The signings in have been poor (IMO and some others) The squad is miles off. I look at the 22 that played at Walsall and say 8 aren't good enough. Duff and Khaleed have made points about players being fit. We need between 6 and 11 depending on how many Duff thinks are good enough and we have 2 weeks of pre-season training left before they go into season training.
If only 8 aren't good enough out of 22 that's a massive improvement on how many weren't good enough a couple of months ago. Which of the kids don't you think are league one standard? And why?
i would think he refers to last season. However Duff doesn't seem to be calling shots on who stays and goes so i can see his point.
Marsh, Achroyd Hondamarch Sraha Helliwell Kalinauskas Bremeng Cole Thomas where does he play. He doesn't want to play CM Odour Where does he play? He isn't a wing back.
Why have you chosen those players? I see what you mean with Thomas and oduor. They both have talent but don't seem to fit a position
Because I don't think they are good enough. I have seen a few of them prior to lockdown. I had a scout telling me then that Helliwell wasn't anywhere near the player he was when he broke into the first-team training. He looked like a child at the end of last season.
Any non City/Chelsea/United/Liverpool cast off signing is a poor one in your opinion though based on past experience Pretty sure he never said crazy offer or anything that could be construed as that. Certainly not the impression I got from being at the Q&A and watching the press conference. I'd guess that the 1m was to get us through the summer period. I'd also expect the squad to change further until the end of the transfer window. There will be some reliance on players leaving before the budget is available to bring players in.
''absolutely absurd money'' was the phrase. 54 minutes in on the fans forum with Neerav Perekh You mentioned the big clubs there. But we did well with Hourihane Winnall Brownhill Davies and many more before in the league one and they were all cat 1 standard academy or directly cat 1 under the current model.
Remind me how much we got for him? And did you pick out that one phrase out of context of all the other things he said about looking at any offers for players with 1 year left and not promising anything and it depending on what we got for the first few players and that we couldn't ignore the financials. It would seem so to me. The exact things he said in relation to a question about how many players we'd have to sell can be heard here.
