Who do we all think is a feasible option at our level? Personally I have no idea but I'm interested to hear what others think.

More likely to get a camp striker!

Who was our last marquee signing?

Dike felt, and proved, to be fairly ‘marquee’ with all the hype and then success that surrounded it. Prior to that though, was it Frimpong? I wouldn’t class Wilks or Thomas as marquee really.

Matty James on loan the second time?

Herbie Kane was bigged up in the press…
    Historically maybe Mike Sheron

If we made a proper marquee signing me and the lad would have a pint in it before the match.

    It's an inclement weather thing.

Tyler Walker maybe? Good pedigree having had good spells at L2 and L1 level in the past. Done ok with Cov in the championship too but out of favour there with only a year left on his deal. Had a stinker with Pompey last season though.

About as marquee as we will get at this stage I reckon.

    Marquee was the shirt maker.

Jan Molby was quite literally a big, markee signing lol.
He even thought Martin Bullock was a lost autograph hunter wandering aimlessly around the place. Which is just what he also did as a player. :D

It's an irrelevant question imo, for two reasons. Firstly, there are almost no marquee players who would be willing to play at this level. The best are either on their way up but not yet marquee or older players on their way down who no longer have such status. And secondly, because we certainly won't be shopping in the marquee store. Our recruitment will be much more frugal.

What a player though. Even those few games for us he was just a different level

More chance of a slightly over tent for fanzine than a marquee

Yeah in fairness I liked him, he made a big difference and got the place buzzing.

Marquee signings in the lower leagues including the championship are mostly a thing of the past. Players don't have to play on into their mid to late thirties as they are already set up for life.
Players we signed in the eighties and nineties (of which there were many) were not on such massive wages to be able to retire. So played on longer.
Those that play on now, tend to look at the US for example to finish their careers. Seeing it as a cushy number in some cases.

Billy Sharp anyone. Think he's out of contract. And united are splashing the cash.
    Edit.
Seen he signed an extension to summer 2023. I reckon they'd let him leave on a free mind as a thanks.
If not figuring in the first team. Loaned out. Come on Hecky you know it makes sense.

Was just thinking about Molby :) I liked this for Molby but not for Bullock, he was a cracking player!

I agree if there ever was a player who would get you on the edge of your seat it was Bullock, his finishing may have left a little to be desired but Christ he scared the living daylights out of everyone he ran at

Adam Hammill probably was the last one we made - certainly the last one at this level

Kevin Long on a season long loan. Connections to Duff. Replacement for Helik? 2+2=5.
