But it makes even less sense for us to send him there, for so long, and then still pay the majority of his wages. Otherwise it would be better for all parties if we paid him up to get him off the wage bill.

    I guess we're both speculating.

Hes on a 3 year deal at a rumored 7k a week thats just over 1 million wasted. After seeing his cameos for bfc he looked more like a darts player than a footballer suprised any club came in to loan him.

I'm not openly critical of the board and what's happening down Grove Street. I like what I have heard so far; I like some of the changes they have made; I am quietly confident in the new First Team management setup, and I am willing to give them time to turn things around, which may take more than just this season.

However, I am concerned at the moment, although things could change, in our attacking options for the coming season.

I think you will find that Frimpong retired when he signed for Barnsley

Plenty on the horizon, all walking further out of sight.

We've no money. I think this is worth repeating at every opportunity as it doesn't appear to be understood. And if we sell Helik, Styles, Andersen, Brittain and Collins we'll still have no money. The amount of money we don't have will be reduced but it will still be less than none. And we may well sign someone who plays at the opponent's end of the pitch but he won't have scored any goals at anything like the level we'll be playing at.

How much of the seven million have we saved so far? Rumoured 750k for Woodrow and 2 million for Morris. Both their salaries saved for next season must be another 700k with Cauley on approx 8k a week and Morris 6k? We must be around halfway there. Two more key sales and that should surely be enough.

We might have the kid Butterscotch lined up, from Leicester's youth set up.
But Im sure it said in Sunday's Sun paper, that we are or have signed him!.

And what did Manu Pingpong actually achieve ?. o_O

When was the last time we actually did this though? All our signings, pretty much, have been players who have scored abroad or scored at a lower level. You’re going back to Sharon, Shipps and Dyer to break that mould I think?

We’re making positive progress on the financial front. Given the obviousness of Helik and Styles leaving, it should free up funds to be slightly more adventurous before the season starts.

Strikers are a much harder player to sign as well if you’re wanting a past history of goals scored. Less of them around and the good ones who are scoring goals tend to move upwards and demand big money. The modern move to one up front with wide forwards means you need a more targeted approach and likely have a shorter list of candidates - unlike a lot of other positions.

Personally I don't know what all the panic is about ...OK we've let our two best strikers go ...but who's not to say that Khaleds not already done a deal to bring in a couple of Premier league young up and coming exciting strikers ....that starts banging them in for fun....once again patience is the key watch this space lol

Kevin Gallen, Jon Macken, Andy Gray, Dean Gorre, Ian Hume, Danny Haynes, Chris O'Grady, Ricardo Vaz Te, Jason Scotland, Marlon Harewood, Cauley Woodrow off the top of my head. Probably plenty of others.

Hardly any of those players had scored goals at the level we were playing at when we signed them?

Vaz Te was picked from the depths of failure in Scottish football, Woodrow an odd goal and loan spell but not much football played, and was Dean Gorre a striker?

The others were signed some years back which is the point I was making.

Should have phrased it better but was half asleep. You’ve gone back some years to create that list, and the recent ones weren’t scoring goals at the level we we were playing at when we signed them.

No idea what a card is but it would probably be easier to help me understand where I’ve got it wrong?

Or do you think Woodrow, Vaz Te and Gorre were regular goal scorers in League One when we signed them?

Moore and Winnall were scoring goals in the division below us, Dike had played a dozen games ever, Morris wasn’t really scoring for anyone but was a level below, Chaplin was a level below, Dagnall had never really scored at Champ level, and O’Grady was signed after not really playing for six months in the Championship (all goals scored were at League One level).

The Mackem, Gray, Gallen, Scotland, Harewood mix is on the money. But feels like an age ago.

Most of these were also all signed to us when they were well past their best (not sure on Gallen he is before my time). Not saying they didn't offer something and did well in spells but wouldn't class any as amazing signings personally.

As you have said, we have had better luck going for strikers from the league below etc. Woodrow, Winnall, Moore, Morris etc. all either had poor records overall or had scored good numbers from the league below and then developed with us and got sold on for profit.

Strikers who regularly score goals at the level you’re playing at will either go up a league or sign for the big spenders in the division you’re in.

That’s why our days of signing those players are long gone, so it isn’t a surprise that our replacement strikers will likely not have scored goals regularly at League One before. We have to find the best players on the way up the divisions, diamonds in the rough from abroad, or those who haven’t quite made it but shown promise like Woodrow or Morris.
