Not sure what the Chelsea academy has to do with owt. Simple fact is Collins is an all-round better keeper than Walton. Collins's concentration is exceptional, never takes his eyes off the game.
Because they will train you more in that. They will select goalkeepers at a young age based on those abilities and train them. It's like all La Masia players will be able to pass the ball in tight spaces. It's like people within education that go to Harrow. They all can speak in public well.
I didn't. Was watching a program on it the other day which talked about. Quite interesting. I'm also an awful public speaker. During college, I was asked to speak up when doing a presentation. I told this woman I wouldn't and she never asked me to do one again.
Did we finish 5th in the league with Walton in goal. Did he save us last season once Collins got injured?
1. Was a big player during that season. Played nearly half of it. Val chose Collins for the cup game then stuck with him. So yes he did play his part. Dike made the difference. Not Collins. 2. No he didn't but neither did he have Helik in front of him for most of his games. Where were we in the league when collins got injured. If my memory serves me right. BOTTOM. 3. Saved us almost single handedly from relegation under Struhber. Just my opinion of course. I think it's a valid one. Not Dissing Collins btw. Just adding a bit of a balance, to your selectiveness one way.
So it was all Jack Waltons fault is the point you are making , nothing to do with other team selections , tactics etc , injuries to other key players , well personally I think you are being very harsh on Walton & although he might not be the finished article yet, he has proved that he was more than competent at championship level & I have every confidence he can do a good job in division one. It is obvious that we need to add players to the squad for different parts of the pitch & I suggest the attack & the left back area need what finance we have available pointed in that direction but the one area where we are strong is the goalkeeping area , if Collins is sold then a number two will have to be brought in to cover Jack but until that happens it is not a problem .
I typed 'Pearle' instead of Searle and got pearlescent and thats without alcohol so I know where you're coming from
So Collins didn’t play the sweeper keeper under Val then and was major part in our success? Collins with Helik in front of him. we still lost the majority of our games last season. Just think Collins is a better keeper. like most of our fans.
1.Walton also played sweeper keeper under Val for 22 games. So I don't know what your getting at. 2. I think you need to think about that one. 3. I don't give a toss what others think I'm not ruled by em. Its called an opinion. I'm not like most of our fans. My opinion doesn't need ratification. Unlike most of our fans. I attend most if not all games. And base my judgement on what I see. Not what someone else tells me.
Alex Kiwomya came through the Chelsea academy, he was an awful footballer. Frimpong was dogshit. I don't think that you can attach ability to where they came from. I went to uni with a lot of people from Eton/Harrow etc. They were no better than those of us who came from state comps, and in many cases were measurably worse.
Who says he's happy to sit on the bench. If selected he'll try consolidate as any keeper would. It's the hardest position to dislodge.
I do think collins is the better keeper the fact the he was in the chelsea accademy means nothing thought.
Tbh put Walton in and then let’s see. He be never capitalised when Collins was out last season. He always looked the understudy.
I’ll let you into a secret. There are plenty of idiots who go to very expensive private schools. There are also plenty of brilliant people that come from state schools, who are exceptional public speakers.
I think Collins is the best alround goalkeeper and the skills that you get from being at the elite youth systems help with that. At one point one of the centre backs got the ball and instead of just watching he worked himself into a position where a centre back should be stood and then pushed a centre back on. That creates overloads further up the field. I hope the younger goalkeeper at the club. Flavell etc are all over Brad and asking him questions about it.
