Looks to be a return to a signing policy that did not well for us. Looking forward to seeing him playing for us. I love a good wing back
Its just sensible given the financial mess we're in. Players will likely want to see us progress before committing to a longer deal. We want to reset and be more certain of a players contribution to get over some of the disastrous 4+ year deals we've had to completely write off.
I’ve always ignored your posts before now, in whatever name. Maybe now’s the time for you to really weigh up whether supporting a club is for you?
More bin juice? A quick flick through match highlights hardly tells you anything, it certainly doesn't make you Chief Scout. Judge him by the way that he plays for Barnsley. Spectemur Agendo.
I found that strange aswell suppose a good 1st season and he will be sold to the highest bidder get some money in fast contracts.
I think it depends really. if he does well and we don't get promoted, then he'll probably fancy his chances in the Champ and push for a move. if we get promoted, I think there's a good chance we'd keep him as a championship club
Not sure how you arrive at this conclusion, but you thought Frimpong was a world beater, and that didn’t work out so well did it. You will forgive me if I take your comments with a pinch of salt, and I for one are happy with this signing and prepared to give the lad a chance.
So we sign a player who naturally plays in a problem area we have had for a while now and just so happens to have previously been arguably the best player in the team that won L2 last year. He also 25 years old with decent experience and potential decent (undisclosed)sell on if he kicks on with us. Time will tell if he turns out to be good for us but at this point I struggle to see what more the club could do to improve on him.
I have always tried to argue that the longer contracts didn’t mean what some supporters tend to think they mean. My view is that Conway figured that a longer contract may well lead to a higher transfer fee at sale time, but that all the risk was loaded onto the football club. The number of his signings that can be said to have justified this approach would seem to me to be vanishingly few. Quite the opposite in fact.
The problem been he will only have 1 year left but i suppose the 2 on 2year deals were out of contract so chances are we wont lose on them
The attitude stuff you elude to is a positive in my eyes. Means he isn't happy when his team mates make errors etc. and he isn't happy when his team concedes. What do you want him to do stand there and clap the opponents for scoring? I also saw the game you are on about with Asante. Some could argue that was a foul and he should have had a free kick. Also, while on the topic of those, you also will have seen in that game that he put a lovely free kick into the top corner to bring his side level. They got momentum from that and went on to win the game. His decision making in the final third can't be that bad given he got double figures for assists too. You also haven't mentioned any better alternatives that we could have got on our budget.
In fairness Redrum it might be Cadden who has dictated the length of contract as I noticed that his previous deal with Forest Green was also for two years , might be coincidence but it could be his preference .
“People say that football’s boring, Nicky Cadden’s always scoring, can you hear the Ponty roaring ….” Long overdue a re-release of that 80’s classic
I'll judge the lad on how he performs for Barnsley FC. Not who he has played for, not where we signed him from, not on the colour of his skin, not what religion he may or may not follow, not what nationality he is, not on whether he's popular with other supporters.
This signing got James Crynes name written all over it team of the year league below who we can afford no transfer fee so can pay him a few Bob more. May well have beaten other clubs as I would think the lad at is age wants guaranteed first team football as he's the only senior left back at the club we tick that box ,we are a step up from fgr ,only a 2yr contract so if it goes well he holds all the aces in 12 months.
