Another snippet of information for those travelling. Don't expect to find takeaway food outlets anywhere near the ground, like the excellent fish and chips next to the Rochdale ground for example. There are none at all along the Wetherby Road although there is a newly opened drive-through fast food place recently opened near the Woodlands pub, on the way in from Wetherby. Obviously in the town centre there are the usual ones, and also a few down the Knaresborough Road, not too far from the ground. Those coming by train will find the town centre a compact and attractive environment and you can walk to the ground in maybe 20-25 minutes or get a number seven bus from the bus station across the road from the railway station. It is clearly marked Wetherby on the front and there is a stop right next to the football ground. You are bound to see a few supporters in town wearing the yellow shirt of Harrogate Town and it's very likely they will give you some friendly directions in case you're not sure which direction to walk. There's no real hooligan problem in the town so treat them to a smile and a kind word and you will get the same back
Just to add - my other half went to watch Wednesday there last week. He was so impressed with the pie and peas at the ground he is almost insisting that I go to Harrogate, says he will come too and get in the pie queue for me!! Best he’s had at any ground.
As Harrogate Red has already said there is street parking within a 10-20 minute flat walk of the ground. Lots of it is residents passes or disc parking and you’re limited to 2 or 3 hours, but this restriction is lifted after 6pm. Obviously lots of residents are back from work by then and parking spaces are filled but you’ll find somewhere. My road, for example, is very quiet in the daytime and still plenty of spaces in the evening. Put Mornington Crescent in your sat nav. There are a couple of pubs in between here and the ground and the walk is no more than 15 minutes, skirting The Stray all the way to Wetherby Road.
No but there is a big bus park next to Asda on Dragon Road. That would be about a twenty minute walk to the ground - longer if you go into town and sample the hostelries obviously. I’m not one for pubs but the Wetherspoons is a decent place- part of the complex that houses the famous Turkish Baths
Joking aside mate I'm hoping there's an official coach park. or close on street parking near the ground. I assume there must be a designated area.
Can’t say where the coaches park but my guess would be they drop off right outside the ground then pick up same place. Street parking as already discussed. This is a small club hoping to get bigger but they’ll have to move somewhere else. I believe they are going to put a better stand at the away end but when I don’t know.
Kinnel; I knew they were, massive, but over half a million fans for an away friendly is some turn out - respect (not).
Looking at their last two friendlies a sell out looks unlikely. Sheff Wed - lost 0-2. 1900 (600 away) Rotherham - lost 0-3. 860 (300 away) Something similar to the last game on Wed night I would guess? Seems they’re not too interested in visits from South Yorkshire clubs.
A bit meh, maybe. Can’t see anything but a win for us but we all know how good we are at ending other team’s losing runs. Really hoping to get my first look at all the new players and that JN bags a first half hat trick!
I think we'll see both Cadden & Norwood. It'd be doubtful that either will be at the same level of fitness as the rest of the squad, so they may struggle to see out 90 minutes.
