In consultation according to Look North. Fantastic airport if you live on our neck of the woods but flights always more expensive than other commutable airports.

I understand (was told in a job interview several years ago) that the passenger flights were never intended to bring in much profit, all their money was made in the freight flights.

Sad news if true and a indictment of how bad this country is, my favourite UK and possibly European airport.

We’ve not used it for a while but shocked to hear this news tonight. I was so pleased when it started up having had two tours there when it was RAF Finningley. I can see a lot of people selling up on that new estate right next to the airport, and maybe selling at a loss.

So much has been invested in that area so it will be a real blow to the region.

Not good:( I've never used it so I can't comment on it. As I'm a bit of an aviation buff I did always wonder how it managed to justify its self on the number of flights it has coming in and out. I know its also a commercial hub for cargo planes, that's what I thought kept it going. Anyway I hope it doesn't close and there is a rescue plan.

Don't know the details but it appears that the airport are charging the companies that use it extortionate fees, that's why so many have pulled out, making it an unviable business.
    Very sad if true.

Just this week booked my holiday for next year, flying from Doncaster. Just watched the local news item on it - the travel consultant they interviewed didn't sound hopeful. Looking like I might need Tui to switch us to Birmingham.

Whizz Air pulling out of Doncaster looks like the straw that broke the camel's back. Only Tui have a base there now.

It is, no decision finalised yet. But essentially, unless local or national govt stump up a lot of cash, it looks inevitable.

Cracking airport, it’ll be a shame if it goes.

Flying from there in 2 weeks, hopefully it won’t get cancelled.

I think the fact that they've announced that it's not looking good for the airport will put the final nail in its coffin. Who's going to book flights form Doncaster now. We love the place and don't mind the extra cost because of it's convenience for us. We've done 2 holidays from here this year and have another one booked in September, fingers crossed but doubt it will happen now.
