Big day in the mountains today, a day for attacks if anybody has aspirations of beating Pogacar! My opinion is the only thing that could beat him is Covid or injury, time will tell.

With 2km up a mountain left of todays stage looks like Pogacar is human after all, few twists and turns yet though later in the week.

    Epic stage.

It'll be interesting to see how the tour develops from here.

Keep an eye out for Welshman Geraint Thomas - 4th overall - 2' 26'' behind leader Vingegaard (sp).

    Yates 3'06'' behind the leader.

    Alps D'huez beckons !

That’s the most entertaining TDF stage I’ve seen since 2006 when Floyd Landis launched his infamous attack.

Crazy. I was beginning to think Pogacar was going to dominate for the best part of a decade but now I think he might be out of podium contention by the end of tomorrows stage.

The Jumbo team is probably the best of my lifetime. There’s been some great Postal, CSC, Telekom & Sky teams but they’ve got 6 of the best 20 climbers in the race & 4 of the best 10. Phenomenal & it should see Vingegaard wears yellow in Paris

2km to go up another mountain, Piddock 38 seconds lead will be youngest ever winner on Alp Dhuez.
He's British, he's a Yorkshireman and I once saw him win a road race around Barnsley town centre, it's EPIC!

    Well in Otley lad.
Some performance at 22. Against that field. Up that mountain. In that heat. On Bastille Day.
    Bl00dy well done.

Great ride from Tom Piddock. Good to see him get the win on such an important stage and day.

From the lad himself, I think he enjoyed winning!
"It’s not bad that, is it? I guess it’s made my Tour de France. If I get dropped every other day, now I don’t care. My first Tour? Not bad, is it? I lost enough time, I guess Jumbo didn’t want to risk it. I guess it worked out perfectly. That was one of my best experiences in cycling. That was unreal, when you are slaloming through people’s fists and flags. It was brilliant getting across with [Chris Froome]. He’s a legend and I just beat him up Alpe D’Huez. But he’s still Chris Froome, ain’t he?"

That was something to make every Yorkshireman proud.

And it puts the efforts of pampered footballers into proper context.

Real effort and unique talent. Absolutely brilliant Tom Pidcock.

I can see years of cheering him on, stretching before me. Health permitting .

That descent was something else the motorbike with the cameraman which was following Pidcock clocked 105km/h.
I once got to touching 50mph downhill from up Green Moor on my racer (many moons ago) and nearly **** missen!
For anyone interested there is road racing (mens & women) in Barnsley town centre tonight, it's the same event that Pidcock won previously.

It’s terrifying isn’t it. I’ve come down Holme Moss & some other biggish hills in the area & even when I know the roads well I still wouldn’t dare go at them kind of speeds. I’m panicking at half his speed.
