And yet again another thread completely hijacked and ruined. I left the bbs for quite some time because of all this and low and behold it’s starting again. There’s one thing having an opinion then there’s another just spouting utter tripe for attention and having every single thread you rear your head in completely destroyed. Cannot be arsed with this. Bbs back in the bin
Well whether it's a male or female or a group of them from across the pond, I think it's fair to say that they will know little about the intricacies of securing decent footballers for us. They ought to counsel advice from those who seem to have more nouse - be it from a spreadsheet, a scouting system or a canny manager and his/her staff. Then they'll need someone to seal the deal. I don't think that advice from Hemsy will trouble or sway them too much. We need to be a broad church on here though, in my opinion.
But of course we don’t know what the other options are, so it could be the most sensible option available. I suppose one option is to go with what we have (Cole, Iseka, Marsh, Aitchison), but that doesn’t seem very sensible either.
Just block him - stops you having to read the garbage he pollutes various threads with. Granted, it does make some threads a little confusing, but it's only a small price to pay to get around not reading his utter, utter rhubarb.
Cole and Iseka under Duff will be a totally different proposition than coming on as sub in the championship under Poya. Norwood would be a good addition to them with two talented young lads coming through in Aitchison and Marsh.
I blocked him. As you say makes threads like this one a bit confusing but at the same time my blood pressure remains low so it’s a price I’m happy to pay
you seem to have become hypercritical of the new board, and I'm genuinely not sure why. from where I'm standing, story so far... acknowledged the huge failings of last season, on and off the pitch taken direct action by removing the single biggest cause of that listened to the fans, by recruiting an EFL experienced manager said they will not exclusively sign inexperienced/young players and will bring experience where needed (is this the root of your criticism?) been brutally honest on our financial position had great pre-season and open day events gone back to script in terms of recruitment ,and brought players in early, in key positions they have repeatedly said it's going to take time to get things right, and that there will still be bumps along the way. surely you understand that, given the amount of $hit the Club needs to address post-Conway? regarding your comments on the Board, they do come across as disrespectful. you're making some pretty sweeping assumptions about their knowledge and roles. a Board consists of many roles. some are public facing, some are not. some are footballing, some not. there are very clear and obvious reasons for that. with all due respect, we have a team of dedicated analysts and an apparently sophisticated algorithm for identifying potential targets. I imagine their depth of knowledge is technically & statistically greater than yours or mine. they won't get everything right and there are definitely going to be decisions they get wrong. show me a club where that doesn't happen? but their intentions are good. all things considered, personally think your assessment of things is OTT. just chill a bit, and give them a chance.
Let the board be judged in 2years because that's what it will take us to become financially competitive again.
Too much time on his hands. Obviously still hasn't got a job from his previous spell posting, still at home sponging from Mum watching her Sky TV all day.
I was sat having a sarnie in my DPD van when the Lita news was announced. I was genuinely excited at the even fact we'd signed him. It didn't go according to plan obviously which was a shame.
Ipswich didn't want keiffer Moore either. He monstered league 1 and is now a premier league and full international player. No yardstick. We have made previous bad signings as every club has. We have also picked up some diamonds who's careers looked to be on the scrapheap.we aren't a big enough club to be signing strikers in their pomp (sorry to quote revie). Glavin, Biggins, Payton, hendrie Hignett, hammil, Moore tend to prove there's life after a stall in a career. He's a better gamble than oulare, Schmidt, freiser etc. He could be right time right place, manager will know all about him, trust him, get behind the player, it's all we can do as fans.
I would think that this will be seen as an 'insurance' purchase. We won't be able to go out and buy a decent striker for a reasonable fee until we have sold Styles and/or Helik, which looks likely to happen, but not yet known when. If we haven't got the funds by the start of the season, Norwood is a good insurance option to make sure that we have a proven and experienced League One striker in the squad. If the sales do go through soonish, I would think that some of that money will be reinvested in another striker, or two. In the meantime and with no guarantee of money from sales yet, Norwood looks a good option, who is capable od scoring at this level and who will be able to give some decent advice to youngsters like Marsh and Aitchison. Good signing, especially as no fee involved. One year deal? Looks good.
I agree. I don't think that the new board could have done better than they have so far, given the financial constraints under which we are working. Good choice and persuasion regarding Duff and Paterson. Realistic signings who are known to Duff. Trying to raise cash from players who are saleable in order to balance the books and to reinvest any excess. Well done, board. It will come good and deserves to.
You’ve hit the nail on the head there @thomasevans, I’m of the same thinking. IF we manage to sell Styles/Helik this window there could well be left over funds and with Heliks injury chances are at least his sale will go down to the wire. If it were me I’d be tempted to hold off on committing to the final striker, see if we can raise some funds first, if it’s not looking likely then have a plan B loan lined up and try again in the winter window. Norwood covers us, as you say insurance. With the extra subs this season and playing 2 up front I’d like us to sign 2 more ideally, the 5th choice striker should be someone young with lots of potential, who doesn’t demand a high wage, such as the Soto lad we had on trial, if we can land one of those types before the season starts than that’s even more insurance and gives us some further breathing space to wait before making that final striker signing. Another advantage of waiting gives us time to see how Cole/Iseka fair. If one of both hit the ground running we might not need to spend in that department. All wishful thinking, maybe those sales won’t leave any funds, but it’ll be nice if they did
