You don’t happen to still have that rock you’ve been hiding under for the last couple of years do you?
I'm putting a tenner on him for L1 top scorer if we sign him, based solely on Hemmsy writing him off.
Higgy thinks Paul Conway did a good job. He thinks a good coach comes from a Premier League club. He thinks a good player comes from a Premier League club. You've basically just put forward his argument but claimed it's all positives where as he sees all those points as negatives.
Fair points, well made. Personally I think it's a risk worth taking, but I can see why you and others may not.
I don’t know anything about Norwood other than looking at his Wikipedia page. At 5’9 he’s not the type of forward I feel we need but I’m still hoping for us to sign a physically strong forward who can hold the ball up & bring others into play. I’ve got no issue with his age though. I’ve long argued that the strategy of having nearly all your squad as young players on long contracts is ridiculous as they can’t all play & you end up losing players for nothing that you’ve paid a substantial fee for. You need some squad fillers & players on short contracts who can be got rid of quickly if you’re relegated like we were to balance the books.
He's 2 inches taller than Lionel Messi who seems to have done okay . I don't care who we sign as long as they can score a goal.
He is blocked mate but it’s the constant replies and biting that ruins it he literally comments then sats nothing it’s everyone debating him for 10 pages after with nothing about the original post said again
He's actually 5'11 the wiki thing you've seen is wrong. He's also known for being strong and being able to battle and in his own words 'win his headers and battles' it's a part of the game he enjoys doing. His main strength is running in behind though with his pace. If we could get a big lump next to him to flick it onto him that would be ideal. If not he will battle and try and win stuff if needed.
We're a League One side and we're potentially signing a striker who's above League Two level and has scored goals in the league we're playing in. Injury concerns aside, he's got a phenomenal work rate by all accounts, has goals in his locker, and can lead by example in terms of going back to having a high press philosophy. Suggesting he's an 'insurance' signing is probably wide of the mark. It's likely he's exactly the type of striker that Duff wants in the squad to force some of the existing strikers to shape up or ship out. Exactly what we've lacked collectively since Val left.
But Lionel Messi can’t win headers & out muscle centre backs either haha. I just feel we need a replacement for Morris who can hold the ball up & create chances for Norwood, Iseka, Cole etc. We won’t be able to play pretty football & pass through most of the teams in that league so we’ll need to play the percentages & have someone who can retain possession even if he isn’t a clinical goal scorer. Whenever we seem to struggle & have bad seasons we always seem to lack this kind of forward. Until Morris got fit we were dire last season.
I'm Available !!! But at 61 with 2 miners knees I'm struggling to get up to pace. I'm all on to run a bath ,however I'm a big lump and available.
Get yourself an agent and get them on phone to Khaled! I am around 6'3/6'4 myself so I probably also count as a big lump but I wouldn't want to put the Barnsley fan base through the torture of watching me attempt to run around the oakwell pitch aha.
A medical should ensure he’s currently not injured and his body is in good condition. I’ve no idea what his past injuries were, if a player keeps getting a recurring injury then that’s something to be wary of, but if he’s had different injuries and he passes a medical then I’d have no concerns singing them, regardless of age. I’ve not read every post on here so you may be referring to someone else, I did use the term ‘insurance’ several pages back, but that was not meant in any disrespect or low expectation of the player. If Norwood stays fit then I see no reason why he won’t score 15+ this season. The context I used the term, along with the person I was replying to, was with regards to us being able to sign him before the season starts and for free, buying us time to land another striker of similar quality later in the window. His signing gives us quality cover immediately (insurance), rather than waiting to land a transfer with a fee towards the end of the window (*should* we raise enough via sales).
Makes sense. What I was meaning though is that he's very likely a #1 target and someone Duff wanted. Rather than it being part of any strategy viewed to landing someone else as well.
Yeah I just reread your post and I realised that I agree he’s almost certainly a signing Duff wanted and I’d expect him to be one of the two regular starters up front.
So have we actually got this deal sorted then? Think all things considered this is probably as good as it gets for us right now tbh.
