Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but it was interesting to see Iseka as the last striker to come on yesterday.

Cole and Aitchison started, who both played well I thought. Then Marsh came on ahead of Iseka to replace Aitchison, and finally Iseka at around 75ish mins replaces Cole.

Maybe Iseka was injured or maybe Duff sees Marsh and Aitchison as similar players and it was a like for like swap or maybe Iseka has dropped down the list, what do we reckon?

Iseka needs dropping further down the list for me. Still looked lazy even after coming on as sub

Dropping off somewhere down the M1 wouldn"t be a bad idea :)

I remember Sibbick saying how much skill Iseka showed in training.
I like to see flashes skill and showmanship, let's give him a run to see that talent.

Iseka looks like he’s carrying extra timber to me and just don’t see him doing much in division one so it’s imperative that we bring in another more mobile striker to go with Norwood.

We've got to either believe in him and give him a fair crack at it or try to move him on because I'd guess he's far too expensive to be a bit part player in lg 1.

Sell iseka and cole if possible. If not impact subs at best.

L1 is a very different standard to Champ, but that strike force still feels light to me. can't see a 20 goal striker in there. maybe 15 goals in Norwood, if we get a full season from him. would. can't see the rest getting much above double figures. guess we'll see..

I’d like to see how Cole and Iseka can perform under a decent manager and midfield before writing them off But for me obviously Norwood is first on the list but also if we are allowed 5 subs there is plenty of scope to rotate the rest I can see Cole as a decent sub against tiring defenders though Iseka has the skill it’s whether he has the attitude that’s the question for me but I’d probably start him for the first couple of games

I’d be surprised if we weren’t actively seeking a club to take Iseka on. Absolute disaster of a signing!

    So...

    Norwood - 15
    Cole - 10
    Iseka -10
    Atchison -10
    Marsh - 10

That's approx 55 goals between the forwards. Add another 10-15 from the rest of the team and you're looking towards 70 goals. If we're reasonably tight at the back, we would win far more games than we lose.

Unless of course you mean no more than 10 between the other four?

Im the same, it’s a different league, different manager and a different midfield, they might surprise us. That said Duff might have already made up his mind with Iseka, or he was just giving him a kick up the backside by dropping him. Ideally you want your first 11 with 90mins under their belt before the season starts, next 2 friendlies will be telling.

No I didn’t mean I think all our strikers would get into double figures, if that’s how it came across. Unusual for more than three strikers from any one club to hit double figures. That said, the 5 sub rule might see that change

That's how I read it at first but thought you couldn't have really while I was typing my reply. I'm still willing to give Cole and Iseka a clean slate and see how they fare in a team that (hopefully) will try and win games and create chances. Although saying that, one thing I can't stand is laziness and if Iseka really does look like he can't be arsed (I didn't go yesterday to have an opinion), his slate will not be clean for long.

Over our working life we have all worked with lazy colleagues & no matter how talented someone is unless that person is willing to up their game & become a team player then they are no use & that is how I see Iseka, he clearly has talent but is bone idle & last season when we were up against it we needed players to step up but he did not , he hid & went missing , Duff might get a tune out of him but leopards do not change their spots & so it is a get rid & replace for me .

    in reality

    Norwood 10-15
    Cole 5
    Iseka 5
    Marsh 5
    Atchinson 5

And I’m being overly generous with sone of those.

I agree with a lot of what you say but can you honestly say that our captain stepped up when our backs were up against it last season ? The results suggest not so it seems a bit of a cheap shot at Iseka who was only really a bit part player.
I'd guess that he's probably too expensive for us for next season and wouldn't be surprised to see him loaned out but if he is still here we need to get behind him and hope Duff can get the best out of him.

It is not a cheap shot, it is just my opinion which I formed on watching every game last season & seeing Iseka"s performances , he was used off the bench when he should have been able to put every ounce in but apart from a decent cameo against Sheffield utd & one other performance he was very disappointing , he never supported his fellow players & to be honest never looked interested , regarding Woodrow you are right that he had a poor season but even when he was struggling & played out of position he always tried & I can live with that , but whilst as a team we were very poor there is no excuse for not putting a shift in .

Totally agree that there's no excuse for not putting a shift in but I'd cut Iseka some slack by saying it was the blind leading the blind last season and we just never clicked apart from the few games where Bassi and Quina were outstanding.
Hopefully Duff can give clear roles and expectations of players then we can really spot any slackers.
