Haha we lost too, I got 3 then got a **** decision. Then did square leg and got unreal abuse because I gave a tight stumping not out. Reyt laugh when the lad at deep mid wicket is threatening to kick your head in because he could tell it was out from there.
Cobra meeting just been held about the extreme temperature but surprise, surprise Johnson decides to not attend as he’s hosting a party at Chequers instead. We’ve come full circle.
110F (43c) in Death Valley at 1.30am ☠️ That's crazy heat. Took the advice here and elsewhere and house is lovely and cool.
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...on-amber-alert-temperatures-rising-met-office https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-62195015 Don't travel on trains unless necessary. The poor trains we have on the Penistone Line will be awful to be on for passengers.
My other half was born and raised in the deep south of America where average daily summer temps are 25-40 degrees C. She is adamant 30C here is worse than 40C there, even outside. Maybe it's different humidity, maybe it's the sun feeling different in northern latitudes, but she swears it's worse. She's lived both for many years, so I'm inclined to believe her.
One of the greatest post punk records. I have the original 12inch. Thank goodness i have it in a plastic sleeve. Gordan Gano never did much again. Country Death Song was a really good track too. Very dark. Like 60's Dylan on a bad acid trip. That is alternative / indie music, not ******* Coldplay, the 1975 or the Kaiser Chiefs.
I think Kuala Lumpur or Mumbai was probably the worst type of heat I've experienced. Vegas was blast furnace hot but dry, Kuala Lumpur just massively humid, sticky hot. Only nice part was you could guarantee it would lash it down by 6pm every day. Although rats leaping out of the sewers to avoid drowning, not so great
I know. Our gert's just been to get some milk, on opening fridge door she had a panic attack, thought she was in neighbour's kitchen...
We had some collegues from Texas visiting in 2019 when we had the heatwave. They used to laugh at us for complaining about 30-35 temperatures. Let's just say they don't do that anymore. I believe the exact quote was "I've never experienced anything like this"
What's the heatwave like up there fella? Be more bareable than down here. If there is one plus to Scotland it's you get cooler weather
HR dept sent a global email around at 10am this morning advising staff to work from home if it's more comfortable to save travelling etc. Obviously this advice was given after I'd travelled 45 mins to get into work. Which is fine, but I know some older colleagues who don't drive and will have walked 20-30mins to get in. Now they will have to walk back in much higher temps. Oh and it has to be agreed with your line manager. Mine is on holiday, so looks like I'm in for the next 2 days. Personally not too worried about the heat but appreciate it'll be hard for a lot. More frustrated that I'll have to commute while others don't, just because my manager is on holiday. Why wait till today to make this decision?
