How far from fitness is J Williams and what are our other options at RWB if he goes? I’m guessing we will need to sign a new one…
We would 100% need a new one if we are losing one. We only really have Williams, Brittain and Hondermarck at the moment that play RWB and Hondermarck isn't naturally a RWB anyway.
Would we be better using Williams with Hondermarck as back up and buying a replacement for Hondermarck in the middle of the park?
Saw this stat earlier. Needs to improve his final ball though. I like him and believe he would do really well in league 1 for us. Blackburn have been linked before haven’t they? Hopefully it’s just a rehash of that story.
If this one happens then it might put to bed the myth that we're this exclusive club, where a recruitment team that includes the head coach, scouts and signs the players. No chance that John Dahl Tomasson knows much about Callum Brittain. For what it's worth he looked far more like his usual self against Forest on Saturday, but if Jordan Williams is fit and ready to go I can't see us turning down seven figures for someone who was arguably one of our worst performers last season.
I don't know to be honest. I personally think Hondermarck is more suited to a CM role. He played second half vs Worksop at RWB which granted is the only time I have seen him there and he was ok but nowhere near the level Brittain was in the first half. I'd say we need a new CM anyway, regardless of this news and then if Callum goes we would need a new RWB to replace him.
Wonder if this will actually see us go in for Broom now from Posh? Played RM/RWB for Cheltenham many times under Duff and he would be available for a small fee.
Wouldn’t be sad to see him go, he was disgraceful last season, failing to take any responsibility, blaming others. He was a loser.
Agree with the loser thing. That's why I'd be happy to see the back of Styles and Helik too. This season has the genuine feel of a fresh start. New right back. Broom in midfield and another striker with those above mentioned moving on would do me.
I guess it's what they do at the end of that dribble which is the crucial factor. Without checking, I bet Djed Spence is well up the assists, successful crosses and crucial pass charts too. Brittain isn't. The season before last, he was whipping crosses in, beating players and setting up goals. Last season, he was cutting back and looking for a pass backwards. I do think he'd be an asset in league 1, but if there's £1.5m on the table for him, it's a no brainer for me.
I'm Jordan Williams' biggest fan, but for me, he's not a wing back. He's played his best football for us on the right of a back 3. I wouldn't be adverse to him playing on the right wing, or even wide of a front 3, as his pace is a real asset. But I think he struggles when he's given both attacking and defensive responsibilities.
