At first it was one or two rebels, at the tail end of their careers, chasing cash. No one really paying much attention. Now it's A-Listers, Major winners and Ryder Cup Captains. Apparently the gentleman's game, turned upside down overnight, by blood money. Wonder how it will all plan out...

The PGA will cease to exist in its current form and in 10 years time LIV will be the only one anyone watches and no one will give two hoots.
There’ll be a new Ryder Cup type competition and it will still have all the best players in it.

the whole thing is pretty $hit really. from the fans who buy tickets, to the tv networks, sponsors and players themselves. all complicit in whitewashing Saudi money. this 'we're just here to play golf' is absolute b0llocks. it's not good enough.

I’m finding myself slightly disliking anyone who joins or wants to join at the minute.

However, as said above, it’ll probably be the main tour in a few years. Either that or some kind of joint tour.

How much money do people need?

What amount is enough? Why want more?

    Vulgar.

Not sure about that mate. It's had massive attention since the first wave of golfers joined and has just accelerated from there.

I find it interesting that some of the golfers I dislike the most, like Patrick Reed and Dustin Johnson, are the ones who've joined. And as much as I like Poults and Westwood for their Ryder Cup exploits, I've never taken to them as individuals. Sergio joining was the one that cut deep though.

Zero time for this sports washing/blood money tournament. Will it signal the end of the PGA Tour? Not sure about that. The courts overturning the bans for the Scottish Open didn't help things, but I definitely think anyone signing up should be banned from the PGA and DP Tour.

The best need to play the best, and as Tiger and Rory have eloquently put it, the people turning their backs on the game are forgetting the game that made them what they are.

What annoys me is the reasons that players give. The comments that "well im away from my family and have made a lot of sacrifices" really get to me. Many people in life make sacrifices for their job and are away from their families. They were paid handsomely to do so and were happy then. "I have to think about the future of my family" - yeah so what's changed. They got paid handsomely and could retire anytime based on a few years on the circuit. The excuse "this may help Saudi change its standards" yeah right, some criticised it only days before they moved.

The PGA etc need to reinvent themselves to compete. Sad that sports like F1 and Golf are simply turning into a circus based only on making people rich.

It all depends how far the Saudis are prepared to go , I suspect Greg Norman won’t be about much longer as head of LIV when they finally realise he is more toxic than helpful. I can see a compromise further down the track with LIV events being incorporated in the tour schedule . While ever it is an invitation only organisation who decide who plays and when, there’s no long term place for it in golf , it’s a private members club in effect . Unlike the UEA who invested money in an existing tour , the Saudis are trying to take over with a totally separate tour that’s a toy town format , going up against established tournaments particularly on the PGA tour . The Saudis won’t want their human rights record constantly brought up at press conferences, it’s not going to go away until a compromise is made with the PGA , ie they give the PGA a few billion dollars

If someone wants to take money from the Saudi Regime then they can crack on.

It just means that they're complete money grabbing C Bombs who have no morals.

And they can't whinge when people ask them such questions in interviews. They've made their bed.

I think all the golfers that have gone over to LIV should have their hands amputated and be stoned in public.

they do though. constantly. cam smith got asked. I initially felt for him, but then when you hear his response, you can't help automatically thinking 'actually, he's off as well'. for me, not enough golfers are speaking out about it harshly enough. not just golf though is it. football, f1, boxing. they're all at it.

Plus golf is a bit sh it.

Sh it to play and sh it to watch. Just my opinion but of all the sports this is one of the most of not the most dullest.

It's the best sport in the world.
Offer me an afternoon at Old Trafford or one on the links at Royal Dornoch and there's absolutely no comparison.

I'd actually have more respect from someone like Poulter/Westwood if they said:

"Well I'm a little bit passed it now and won't be challenging in majors any more so I'm going to try and earn as much coin as I can. I don't care how dirty the money is, I just want as much money as I can get"

I feel like it's different in F1 as the drivers don't have autonomy over where the race calendar goes. Yes they could object and boycott, and maybe they should, but they'd also potentially be out of a drive.

My take on golf is that you're on a tour, being paid and rewarded handsomely, and you control your own destiny. You alone have actively chosen to take blood money from the Saudi regime directly. Even football is a touch different, in that you might already play for a Newcastle, you might not have any other offers, it might involve dropping divisions, or because it's easier to separate the owners from the fans and the normal people that work at the club and the history it brings.

Boxing is a joke. We shouldn't be taking big title fights to Saudi Arabia when fighters could still be making tens of millions staging it in the UK or the US.

They probably have career earnings of about £40/50 million each. Like i have said how much money do people need? What amount of money is enough?
