I know we used to have a shop in the Alhambra which closed then we had the stall downstairs in the Alhambra, just wondered if we will ever have a club shop in the town centre again? Would make buying things easier

I am sure someone asked JAQ about this via Twitter not long after she started. Sure she replied and said she was going to look into it.

I doubt it, I don't ever remember the shop in the Alhambra ever having more than about 3 people in it at one time. I'm not sure there's the demand for it.

I dunno but my understanding was that it wasn't economically viable. The overhead increase did not equate to a large enough increase in sales. I guess it largely depends on what merchandise you have to sell. I think JAQ is looking at that also.

I can't see how this could ever be economically viable. At least not to be open all year round.

A pop up style shop in the month or so leading up to Christmas might generate a bit of revenue through impulse gift shopping from folk who wouldn't trek down to Oakwell to buy a gift but might call in at a town centre outlet.

I wonder if they’ve ever considered approaching someone like Sports Direct to sub let some floor space in their store (if it’s allowed) should keep the overheads down at least

Open up a Barnsley FC themed pub. Which is open all year round. And in one section of it have a club shop style office which can close outside of normal hours for a shop.

2 birds in one stone if we can't have a local onsite at oakwell.
