So the fire sale that wasn’t going to happen at Barnsley is actually happening, the board’s priority should have been to move Styles and Helik out of the club first instead of this selling of players we were hoping to keep
I'm shocked bearing in mind, they said at the end of last season we would have to sell to balance the books. Haven't we also signed six players
Can prioritise who we want to sell all we like, somebody still has to put a bid in. Helik's not even fit to play, so there's not going to be a mad rush to sign him. Suspect they'll be sold on deadline day, people will bemoan the fact we've sold them so late and not give us a chance to replace them, despite already having signed Cundy and Cadden.
Where did you hear this? I heard that we had some financial issues and would have to listen to offers we get for players in the final year of their contract. (Yes I know we have a 1-year option but we don't actually know if it still applies in league one or if it's even a salary we could afford if we don't get promoted). It was very transparent when Neeerav spoke to the fans, and there were no guarantees given on how many we would be able to keep of our better players. We needed a 1m injection just to get us through the summer. We've lost 7m in revenue because of relegation. On top of that, maybe the player wants to leave? And 1.5million seems decent for a player who wasn't very good last season. We can also only sell players that other clubs are interested in buying. We can't prioritise the sale of one player and magic up a buyer in the same way we can only sell for what a club is willing to pay.
Which players did the Club say we were hoping to keep? Which of the players that have left, were you genuinely expecting us to keep? Most importantly, how did you think the Club would be plugging the £7m gap from relegation?
Who said it wasn't going to happen? It was always going to happen. The new chairman said the board had put £1 million into the club that would "hopefully" tide us over until we could sell players. Which part of that did you find difficult to understand?
FFS does it come as a surprise that Woodraw Morris and now Helik are sold . We're not Man City. Or Derby County or Wigan thank ****.
Did anybody on the board ever use the words fire sale? No. Did they say we'd have to sell players? Yes. So they're doing what they said they'd have to and what anyone with an ounce of common sense between their ears knew was necessary. I just cannot grasp how people can't comprehend our situation despite it being explained to them over and over again.
I am not sure what you are on about to be honest , the club said that players would be sold & to be fair we have brought more players in already than I expected , trading will go right on until deadline day , more will leave & I expect more will be recruited , we are in a business , a business which has just had approx £7 million short fall to deal with ,therefore trading is the way we have to go about things & although this might not be very palatable it is not something the club have tried to hoodwink us with, lets hope that when all the deals are completed that we are left financially viable & have a competitive squad for the division we are in .
What can the club do if no bids have come in until late on? Just let them walk out for nothing to get them off the wage bill?! A bit of perspective is needed. I have been very critical of the club but in this instance there isn't much they can do. We all expect Helik and Styles to depart and possibly Collins too.
They haven't many players worth selling. I'd like to sell Oduor, Cole and Thomas. Depends if anyone is vaguely interested.
