We were talking about this yesterday. What do we reckon we've pulled in upto now with the outgoings just transfer fee wise, excluding wage bill savings ? And what we've spent? Still probably Helik and Styles to go who'd be I reckon our 2 most saleable ones.
I reckon with Woodrow, Morris and Brittain we've got 5 million in. Helik and Styles will probably double that when they leave. I reckon we'll probably end up spending a couple of mill, leaving us with an 8 million positive and the magic number reached. But, as a great man once said. I know nothing.
Mind reader!! My and my mates and family fav topic! I'm guessing It will be just short of £3million, with Woody, Morris and Brittain. Not sure how much of that is up front either but I'm guessing (and that's all it is) That it was under £2 million from Luton for our strikers ...think they stated they had not broken any club record for either. So another £3 million to go and imho if styles and helik both go that could be another £2 million off. All guess work though.
I know nothing either, my calculations are a lot more pessimistic, but just for a bit of fun and based on previous rumoured sale fees.. I reckon £1m each for Woodrow and Morris and £1.25 million for Brittain. So £3.25m max in total. Helik we should get £2m but who knows. Styles we should get at least £3m. But in reality, I think £1.5m for Helik and £2m for Styles. So £3.5m. A grand total of £6.75 million. Maybe we will make an extra £1m for Collins. And add a couple more free transfers/loans.
Going off the media we got 750k for Woodrow and 2 million for Morris. If it's all up front or based on appearances etc we don't know. Brittain another million so that's £3.75 million. Christie Davies and Schmidt wouldn't have been much but it must have pushed player sales over £4 million? We have spent very little to replace them. I suspect the new guys brought in will be on less than those we've lost for nothing like Victor and Romal so we will have saved a fair bit on wages.
We’re all guessing here but I like guessing games so let’s go. For Woodrow, Morris and Brittain, I reckon just over £3 million in transfer fees. Get around a million for Helik (should be more in my opinion) and a couple of million for Styles and I think we should be pretty close to making up the gap, with wages of the players mentioned gone and other wage reductions too through clauses. A right wing back and striker is a must for me. Kane possibly being out injured for a while means a central midfielder could be needed too. We haven’t spent anything on transfer fees yet but I imagine the wages spent on the new players could be quite high. Quite high for us I mean.
Remember that unless we've accepted a cut price deal to facilitate getting them off our books and to get all the cash up front, transfer fees are generally paid over the lifetime of the contract. If our players have signed 3 and 4 year deals elsewhere, the amount of cash we're receiving right now is going to be be 25%-33% of the overall transfer fees agreed.
I reckon that also. Christie-Davies and Schmidt i belive were just allowed to leave for free to get off the pay roll. Also dont forget Aapo Halme also gone.
There’s no doubt it’s unlikely a full payment upfront is made but not sure the bit about over length of contract is correct? https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/artic...-behind-the-scenes-of-a-big-football-transfer
I think we're at £3.25m in transfer fees received thus far. With those players leaving we've likely removed £1m from the wage bill. Relegation clauses should see a further £2m come off that wage bill as well, plus £1m investment from the owners. That would put us at £7.25m but with money going back in to the signing of the new batch of recruits. I think the £4m that Helik and Styles will bring in, plus the £500k saving on their wages, should allow us to invest in the squad further and fully balance the books for a year of progress, but ultimately consolidation as a decent League One team ready to kick on again under the new coaching setup and board.
The Morris fee quoted in the press seems to be legit, which was 2m. Woodrow was somewhere between 500k and 1m depending on what you read. Brittain is being quoted as 1.5m by one journalist. So somewhere between 4m and 4.5m. All based on press speculation, it’s probably less than that.
No way luton paid 2million for morris their previous transfer record was 1.2 million and i saw no where that morris was sold for 2million. Reakon at best 750k woodrow 1.2 morris and 1.2 britain just over 3million
I don't believe we've spent anything on actual transfer fees. All six incoming transfers were free. Some money will have left the club in agents fees though. For Woodrow, Morris and Brittain I doubt the combined transfer fees are more than £2 million. I realise that's lower than many estimates, but I believe many people overestimate the value of our players and what other clubs are prepared to pay for them.
I don't know what we did to sell the club to Duff. If he isn't being given any funds. I know I wouldn't have taken the job. With this squad he's going to have to perform a miracle.
It may not be at the top of the pile where money flows in obscene quantities, but at the bottom end, it’s the norm from what I’ve seen in the handful of clubs I’ve worked with down the years. Of course, given our desperate plight, we may ask for more up front, but that would likely be agreed if we sacrifice an overall value of the deal. I just felt it important to highlight how it tends to work so people don’t think we’ve millions sat there at our disposal.
