soon to be renamed the ‘Angus McDonald Specialist Medical Centre’. Seems like we aren't good at detecting and declaring issues.
Good news. It'd be good to get at least a right back and another striker in before the season starts. The core of our business done, and a month before the window closes.
When they announce someone and you get to the very bottom and it reads 'will link up with our under 23 squad' and the heart sinks..
What annoys me is the money they need to make up doesn't need to be made up in one go. Say for example we've made back £4 million. Would it hurt to go out and sign someone for £500k and try and recoup it later from other sales such as Helik and Styles?
They ask if you've any broken legs... and... do you smoke... Read an eye chart, if you fail that they send you to the FA for Championship referee training.
Do you do that with your bills at home? Pay half your electric bill cos that’s all you can afford and then go on a weekend bender hoping you can pick up some over time later in the month to pay off the remaining part of your electric bill?
It's a good point. The sales of Helik and Styles are inevitable so why not? I must admit though i'm not well-versed in the ins and outs of football finance, the mind boggles at some of the in-depth financial analysis on these very pages! I'm not one for making digs at the club (see spectemur agendo post) but I still can't wrap my head around not being able to sort the catering/kiosks out. I understand the fan zone; to create an in-house permanent fan zone large enough to satisfy those who want to use it would take a lot of effort and wouldn't be cheap. But having worked in retail for 10 years previous to my role now, things that were obviously broken got fixed, and it took days or weeks, not months or years. I hope we see improvements on that side of things this season. I barely use the facilities and never buy food, but for those that do they deserve better, and it's not asking for much. Just get sufficient staff in, buy the necessary supplies, and get Khaled to do test-runs of queuing times/fan experience (mystery shopper) etc. Also, get Khaled to review that photo of the burnt, undesirable hot dog/sausage roll/1960s police truncheon that was shared on Twitter after the Forest friendly and do something about it. We can say we're skint blah blah blah but this has been going on for years. I get better service in my local chippy, and these things are an embarrassment to the club.
None of your business . Back to Barnsley F.C. If we don't make anymore sales the money will have to come from somewhere. Will the new all singing all dancing regime put their hands in their own pockets or let the club fold? To say the Tories are hated on this forum there's a lot doing their best George Osbourne austerity cuts.
how do you know we're not trying to do exactly that though? we can't force players to sign for us. reality is we've got no idea what's going on behind the scenes, in terms of trying to get players in. not trying to be an apologist for the Club, and you may be right, they might not be doing enough. but none of us actually know. I really do get the frustration and also agree we're still probably 4 players light. but equally, the very last thing we need is a panic token signing, to try and placate the fans. and if we're now looking at the loan market, it might not be until the end of the window before we see anything there.
we'll soon see. we saw under val, what can happen with some direction and leadership. L1 is a very different standard, they may well get off to a flyer and surprise us all. obviously they also might not!
