I had a dodgy internet connection back then too. I used to listen to the commentary in Germany, as a lovely poster called Cazi used to post a link. Many a time the internet would cut off just as we were about to take a pena
Cheers. She was a great poster and her daughter posted too. I'm nearly certain she stayed in Mrthyr Tydfil for Swansea play off final but can't be sure. If it wasn't her and her daughter thank you to the other warm hearted woman and daughter who wanted to keep me safe that night.
What happened to Cazi? Did she just stop posting? She's one of the OG's I remember from when I was a bairn full of glee and geniality, subsequently naming myself a tree frog......
I think the original was in morse code , actually on the original board there was someone who did post in morse code , back in the days when you could change your name on every post .
I think she stopped posting after getting abuse from another poster...I dont know her myself but she's a friend of another missing poster Mad Mark
I started as a placement student in Manchester Computing Centre at the University of Manchester in September 1995 and they had this thing called the internet and we had a website and it was all very groundbreaking and interesting and one of the first things I did with it was to see if there was anything Barnsley FC related. So, maybe late 1995 or early 1996 there was the proto beginnings of the BBS. It was different, it was wild, it had some characters. I remember the uber-thread on Whether "Might was right" started by Shefftyke that took up almost the whole of the internet.
I think I remember something on the official website. Maybe about '97? There was a chat room too. Edit: actually it must have been about then, because I have a weird early memory of a Mark McGhee thread.
Here's an archive from 2000. https://web.archive.org/web/20000523093826/http://fans.barnsleyfc.co.uk/bbs/bbs.html
Yeah but I never saw it unfortunately. I woudn't have minded petting it and maybe giving it a little kiss.
