There's actually a focus gig at holmfirth picturedome in August.. Thijis van leer from the original line up is fronting it..not sure if there's one other original member playing...one album ah dint list on mi post was Camel doing flight of the snowgoose. another classic
I remember Sylvia and Hokus Pokus being played regularly on jukeys in the seventies but never got into any albums. I was only young but remember thinking Ackerman was in my favourite top 5guitarists with Alvin Lee, Zappa, Hendrix and Clapton. Gawd knows why I thought that just based on 2 singles but MM and NME seemed to convince me
You should have a listen to Steve Hillage (Gong and solo albums) and of course Robert Fripp (King Crimson) both wonderful guitar players. Also Andy Powell and Ted Turner of Wishbone Ash were not too shabby...
I believe that the guitar player is Jan Akkerman's son. They're playing in Sheffield on the 27th, only £20.
Yeah Argus is a classic album and Wishbone Ash are up there ! It was mind blowing seeing 2 main guitarists blast each other if you know what I mean. There were so many very competent guitarists about at that time and so there’ll always be ones you forget. Dave Edmunds for one …. Jeff Beck etc etc
This year is the 50th anniversary of Argus and Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash are touring and playing the whole album straight through. Last year we saw them do the same for Pilgrimage (a year late due to COVID). +1 for Jeff Beck, brilliant player.
Gonna watch G2 Genesis at picturedome in October. they do Suppers ready from Foxtrot and old Genesis stuff...cant wait
Saw the live show in Leeds, was quite good. Also the updated version with Liam Neeson is worth a listen…
Just flicking through the channels and Sky Arts (channel 130 on Sky) is televising the Liam Neeson live show. Looks like it's available to watch on demand too. Not quite the live show experience, but a hell of a lot cheaper!!
