Just got mine. Nice. Only giving out ST preorders, will be on general sale next week. They've offered to print sponsor on in due course, but I'll pass on that
On the grounds that I refused to pay £40 for a product I’d not seen - no. I find it incredible that they offered a time limited discount for us season ticket holders - and the shirt design hadn’t even been hinted at before the time limit had passed. If I want a shirt for me or my lad, maybe both, I’ll now have to pay £8 more than many other st holders just because I was brazen enough to want to know what the shirt might look like…
Yep - just got mine. Have I become even more of a fat ******* or are they a little more snug this year???!
Well said, i 'd say this was a valid point, and being a season tkt holder you ought to ger it at the reduced rate. Asking wunt hurt.
I wouldn’t bother asking mate, I sent an email grumbling about this, as I had been saving the vouchers until we’d decided which ones to get. I pointed out that I bought 5 shirts last season, 2 for me, 3 for the boy, but I was more or less told ‘tough’. Had I realised the vouchers expired before we could even see the shirts I would just have ordered one of them, with a view to swapping if I preferred the other one, but silly me for thinking the vouchers would be good for when the shirts actually came out.
I’m in the same boat as a few of you. Why would you order a shirt having no idea what it’s gunna be like. It’s ridiculous ST holders had a time limit to get an £8 discount. At £48 a shirt I think even at £40 the club will be making a considerable amount of profit and to use a limited time offer against fans forking out for a season ticket is very cheeky.
Ok so would everyone prefer it next year if we didn’t offer a discount at all and everyone paid full price once they’ve seen the kit? Surely it’s like an ante post bet. You might get a better return if you chuck your money in early, or alternatively you might have bought something that looks like a fancy bin liner.
Not sure the club makes that much out of it, I was listening to a news report today about club shirts & it said the clubs make about 7% so if that is the case they only actually make about £3 on an adult shirt & obviously less on junior ones , the real money comes to the elite clubs who rake it in through sponsors .
No! But as people have already committed to the club by purchasing a season ticket in excess of £300 surely it’s just common courtesy to let those people at least see the product before committing to buying it.
I don't get why people cry about this at all. It happens all the time in other things. For example, I've just seen I have to buy Fifa 23 for £89.99 by the end of August to receive a certain card in the game. If I miss it by one day then I don't get that card. I most likely will pre order the Fifa game by that date but if I don't I'll certainly not be crying and emailing EA about how bad it is.
They were just trying to provide the same offer to those fans who went for the Reds Reserved Plus membership last year. Obviously they decided to simplify the season ticket offer and underpromise and overdeliver. Some of the feedback though was fans liked the shirt offer (since they always buy one anyway). A lot have taken up the offer is my understanding as well.
Unfortunately Gally it does not matter what the club do there will be some fans that it does not suit , I"m afraid it is the nature of the beast .
Sure and maybe it isn't obvious this was the motivation around it, but it was raised by fans at the fan engagement forum on season ticket pricing. The club have been accused of not listening to fans in the past but then when they do they still get criticism. Damned if the do, damned if they don't
