She's accountable to them, to a degree, but she doesn't actually represent them. Semantics I suppose, but I think there is a distinction. The chairman of the board represents them, but not a different shareholder.
I think we could go off on several tangents here, simply because the roles of director and shareholder are different and in some ways conflicting, yet are made up of the same people. I'd say a chair was a conduit to shareholders/stakeholders but represents and leads the board.
So its somewhere between 4,500 and 8,000, a bit dissapoiting at 4,500, and a bit overwhelmed at 8,000, i'm not gerrin one and just hope that the ones who av, av a fantastic season. Mine was only 125.00 quid for a Bridlington season tkt, however i will be with you all on the road, away only for me i'm afraid. C O Y R
To be honest thats not bad at all, be nice if they could get double figures which i doubt, however a good buy could change that.
These figures might be a bit low, but i would'nt know especially with the amount of people i personally know who av'nt an wont be renewing, but we'll definately not be going out of the League. 30 odd days of the transfer window left, still a fair few cummins an goings. C O Y R
To put the revenue generated for the club from season ticket sales in context. 8000 sold all at £300 generates gross revenue of £2.4m. Of this the actual revenue to the club is £2m as the remainder is VAT. The club needs to generate an awful lot of other revenue over and above, what would be a successful season ticket sale, to meet running costs.
Even those figures are inflated - we have quite a high proportion of older concessions and also a fair few of the c7500 will be £10 kids season tickets as well. My youngest daughter (our Evie, many of you sponsored her to have her hair chopped off a while ago) insists she wants to come with me and her brother this season. Never been before (she’s seven, I think bringing kids too young is counter productive, they just sit and whinge or get bored after thirty seconds, pissing everyone else around off!!!) her older sister had but she’s not bothered about coming again. If I was a betting man I’d suggest as soon as there’s a cold and wet game she’ll stop having such desires… But given it’s £5 a game for a 7 year old it was an absolute no brainer to get her a £10 st - I break even at two games and we’ll have got those in before we hit September, we miss the first game against Cheltenham as I’m in London that weekend (fool that I am) but there’s two in a week not long after. Even if she’s a fair weather fan why would I not do it? It was the only way of guaranteeing her seat next to me and Rhys for a start.
It just goes to show things in football can soon change. Best not to jump the gun. The National League thing tickled me the most. As if Conman would have stuck around long enough to see us drop down to League Two and National League etc. His ego couldn't take it.
your assuming division position and status was of interest to him. I saw little evidence to suggest it mattered.
I'd Imagine you'd be wrong, if the figures. Given when the announcement was made.( I believe and stand corrected 5k+ before the announcement and 1st extension of the early bird). 12 may. The new board was announced. 16th may was The 1st end of early bird. And I'd assume some were waiting to the last day for financial reasons regardless of changes. That can't be proven of course.
I think he saw bouncing between League 1 and the Champ as success. He didn't mind dropping to League 1 because i think he saw every league 1 campaign playing out like the Stendel season. The guy was a fantasist. Dropping to League 2 would have finished him i think.
Thanks, in which case I'll stand corrected. Nevertheless, the number is very much higher than it would've been under were Conway and Lee still here.
Don't know what you mean by .. jumping the gun.. yes things did change and for the better.. folk were calling out what was happening at the time. A hell of a lot of people were pi55rd off and long time fans at that. Don't kid your self everything is rosey. A lot of fans are still.. let's wait n see. Don't think the club has won back hearts and minds yet.. Take this Saturday.. don't see fans flocking to Plymouth in there thousands for the first game. only the usual 700 that would go anyway.. The club is kinda on probation mate..
I think in normal times (financial/cost of living) we'd have seen well over 1,000 travel. The early start will mean some are still on holiday and the cost of travel will rule it out for a few - include myself in that as I couldn't get organised quickly enough from the announcement to find any cheap train tickets. Even from London it was a £70 return for any decent times so that was me out. You're right though. Not everyone has fully returned yet.
I think 700 is damned heroic this Saturday given the ASLEF strike. The only realistic options unless you can make a weekend of it are driving (at least 2 if not more £100 tanks of petrol) or coach. The realistic train route via London for about £60-70 if booked a while ago is now ruled out as ASLEF are on strike on both LNER and GWR. Cross Country are still running but they are the most expensive train company known to man - currently looking for £180 their cheapest standard return from Sheffield (£472 cheapest first class ).
