For the amount of money Gough, Gibson and Ali will be on surely their positions will be looked at when the season is over.

Form has been woeful in recent weeks. In real danger of relegation now I’d say.

53/5. Might get a first innings lead if we are lucky!!! It doesn't say much for the state of the pitch that was produced. Four wickets fell in the first six overs of play this morning.

Great comeback with the ball. Will the curse of the wicket keeper batsman strike again though…..

Much needed half century from Lyth before he got out. The game is going back and forth. With a 70+ lead and half the team still to bat we are probably slight favourites at the moment.

Yorkshire have got something like 18 runs in the past 12 overs steady away. They need some wins because with the restructure due for next year they don't yet know where the cut off will be to make sure they are in the highest division.

This might be of interest to anyone who like me cares about the County game - I'll just leave it here.

    Save 1st Class Cricket (lancsactiongroup.com)

I know it's from the wrong side of the Pennines but Lancs (a) now have the biggest membership of any county; and (b) are not in the bad books like Yorkshire, Surrey, Essex etc so are as well-placed as any to lead.

Yorkshire struggling again, and our lad Jonny Bairstow hits another brilliant T20 innings for England.

Harry Brook, Joe Root and David Willey not available to Yorkshire this week despite not being involved in the England T20 yesterday. Willey perhaps understandable as he may feature today. Sickeningly Joe Root told to rest before the goddamn Hundred and Harry Brook, professional drinks carrier extraordinaire, denied to Yorkshire by the ECB.........BUT....... allowed by the ECB to play club cricket for Burley-in-Wharfedale in the Aire-Wharfe League!

Some good facts there, all of which seem totally unfair.
Brook grew up in Ilkley / Burley-in -Wharfedale so maybe it’s a long standing promise for a charitable fund raiser ?
    It does seem bizarre however.

The next Test for us is a couple of weeks away and I’d managed to momentarily forget why such a gap ?
    The bloody Hundred !!!!

Yes he does have connections to the club - there were two other Brooks in the team. It was just a bog standard league game though (he was out for 21 and they lost to Otley :D although he did bowl 12 overs and take 2 wickets!)

Disappointing morning session - wayward, unthreatening medium pace bowling in the main going for nearly 4 an over for much of the time on a pitch still offering something. Only a Scarbados monsoon can save us now!
