https://pitchfork.com/news/pulp-reuniting-for-shows-in-2023-jarvis-cocker-says/ Absolutely made up about this. Loved them since I was at school. Now my 11 year old is a massive fan too, but never thought she'd get the chance to see them. The Sheffield gig should be epic.
Probably saw them 20 times in the 80's and early 90s. Probably time for a reunion if they are going to do it.
Same for me. Comfortably makes my top five shows of all time. Not sure if they'll play Sheffield on this tour. I can see Glastonbury and Hyde Park being announced, and maybe one or two others. Hopefully we get a full tour but could just be the festival circuit.
Were absolutely my favourite Brit pop band, never saw them live. Different Class is still on my frequently played list.
It would seem a bit mean to go to the effort of reuniting but then not playing any gigs in Yorkshire!
Ah. They'll definitely do Yorkshire! Just not sure they'll do Sheffield. Leeds/Reading tickets have been slower this year so can see them going back to what made them sell out consecutively for years.
I hope so. My only gripe is I'd want it to be outdoors rather than the Sheffield Arena again, and don't really fancy going to Hillsborough if it can be avoided.
They ought to go full circle and play a series of gigs at what was the Hallamshire Hotel on West Street in my student days in the early 80s. Jarvis used to help out in the Record Collector in Broomhill which was just across the road from my digs.
I've seen them upstairs in the Hallamshire. And at The Dutchess in Leeds. And Leeds Poly. And The Leadmill. And my favourite, a small tent in the middle of the afternoon at The Phoenix Festival, after the release of OU, Babies and Razzmatazz but before His n Hers and any singles off that album. There were a couple of dozen journalists and photographers as they knew the band were going to be big, but they weren't popular yet so there were just a handful of us regular punters. We danced and Jarvis spoke directly to us, off mic. Two years later I saw them at the MEN arena.
Well, as Mr Nutkins would say, I would rather dip mi tatties in sulphuric acid and then finish them off over a Bunsen burner.
