When I was about 5 years old I had a Barnsley shirt, a Liverpool shirt and - to my eternal shame - a fowls shirt (ten hail Marys). As a kid I thought you could like multiple teams. Liverpool and the Fowls were also in my sticker book, and I liked owls as a kid. I soon realised it can't be done - I set foot in Oakwell for the first time and it all made sense. My cousin likes to remind me of my 5 year old shame :D

    Great story :)

I've probably mentioned before My Dad (rest his soul) was a Leeds supporter in the 60s & 70s and when I was old enough I went with him. I wasn't old enough to understand (in my defence :)). Anyways, when Allan Clarke became player/manager in 1978 we went to Oakwell and that was it for me. The lifelong sentence of being a Barnsley fan began....:)

I feel a bit better now, thank you :) I vaguely remember you saying that, now you mention it. I can confirm I've only ever set foot in the Leppings Lane end of the sty, and the away end at Anfield :)

Not having a shirt sponsor matters if we're missing out on significant income. Without knowing how much income a shirt sponsor generates I don't know how much it matters.

I think the new home shirt looks great and it will be significantly to its detriment if the front is covered in a company's name. I'd want a considerable amount of money to do that, to advertise that company. I'd prefer us not to have one than accept a pittance to hawk a corporate entity. If there isn't a company out there willing to pay us to advertise for them then so be it, we can look like a proper team rather than an advertising board.

according to Google, top end league one deals are worth about 150k.
I would imagine we get between half and two thirds of that.

I've always wondered why ASOS have never sponsored us seeing as they are a huge employer in our town ?

Because they don't need to. Same reason the likes of Apple and Sony don't bother.

Apple don’t like to pledge their allegiance.

It used to be the case, that films weren’t allowed to use Apple products. Not sure if that’s still the case. Mainly in particular goody/baddy films. That’s why PCs and Androids are used.

Only Apple TV productions could use them.
