Presumably you’re already travelling at 30 as it’s a 30 zone. Why, then, would you need to brake ‘heavily’ when going downhill to maintain that speed? You make it sound like you’re in a 70 zone, plunging off a cliff, with the descent being signposted as a 30 half way down with the sign being hidden behind a bush and invisible until you’re alongside it.
If you are hit by a bus at 30 mph would it be the same injuries as being hit by a fiat panda going 30mph? So should buses have slower speed limits than a small car.? If its more to do with reaction time for the driver than it is the speed the vehicle is going then again some one with slower response should be made to drive slower? Driving too fast is not big or clever and i lose my mind at nobhead drivers but ive got 6 points on my license and people tell me its like Im driving miss Daisy when Im driving and loads of people come bombing past me, so I know for one even as a steady driver it easy to pick up points and be caught for speeding.
Got flashed by a variable speed camera other night on motorway at 60!mph , but there was no matrix signs saying speed limit had dropped to 50 . Am just hoping it was just camera error etc
Yes I know there is a camera there . Maybe it picked someone else up. Sounds like you should be OK. If you get a NIP from cops ask for photo of gantries.
Reading somewhere that cameras sometime flash as like a test . Fingers crossed . Definitely no speed sign changes showing on gantry though so hoping I should be ok
I got flashed at the same junction a few months ago (mrs asked me to drive past again ) joking aside I was doing 55 mph when the camera went off but I never heard anything
Its probably not that bad - I have calibrated the odometers on my last few cars and at an actual 70mph they have read between 72 (BMW) and 75(Peugeot) current car (Jag)is around 73.5 The BMW had a constant offset so at an indicated 50 you were really doing 48, Not so sure about the current Jag at 50 - not had a chance to verify it but guessing it will be between 47 and 48 - I usually check them on the French Autoroutes where there are 100m posts and they are quiet enough to set the crusie control and measure how far you go in 3 min or even 6 mins - easy to check 130km(80.8mph) and 110kmh( 68.4mph) but 80kmh (49.7mph) is usually too slow to run safely
Whilst the powers that be are sorting their cameras out, I’m my way out of town on Sheffield rd I saw a motorcycle with a pillion passenger (no helmet) wheelying in between the two lanes of moving traffic. Half an hour later, on the same road on my way back, a motorcyclist rode to the front of the queue outside the Vic, went through the lights at red and wheelied down the dual carriageway to the outpost. Where are the police??
Ask the tories. I had a 30,000 pound motorhome knicked off the drive , I never saw a police officer just got a crime number , so I know where your coming from.
