Anyone who thought L1 would be easy is in for a shock. Our weaknesses are midfield and upfront. We’ve not addressed either so we’re going to struggle. Not rocket science….
well that first half was rather disappointing apart from a couple of decent attacks we have been second best by some distance. Plymouth are a decent side but didnt make the playoffs last season and we are well below their level at this stage
Frustrating and disappointing half. Started slowly but weathered Plymouth’s early dominance and came more into the game before looking on top for a period. However, we’ve been too casual and still have a self destructive streak which ultimately proved our downfall just before half time. It also appears we’re still lacking leadership on the pitch which is something we need to address. We’ve looked good down the flanks and need to utilise this more in the second half and hopefully some astute substitutions can get us back into this game.
Just about what you'd expect when you take a team who couldn't score for toffee and sell its two main strikers without replacing them.
Very early impressions: Collins has been decent Kitching has been extremely clumsy, needs to stay focused Cundy sometimes seemed asleep Andersen got a few decent blocks in (and needed to) Williams was okay Cadden got himself booked needlessly but has put some decent crosses in Benson nearly gifted them two goals and hit the defender's foot from two yards out Styles has been absent Connell also hasn't got into the game Aitchison at least hit the bar and could have scored if Cole had laid it off to him instead of trying to turn early on Cole needs to get fired up. The defenders need to know he's there.
Styles can **** off. Clearly doesn't want to be here. All he's done is get booked. Play someone who cares and wants to try.
That cundy is awful, kitchen is slower than my gran, benson would not get in Poggy under 11’s, Styles and Cadden might as well get in bus nar ! If that’s the style of play and how we set up for the rest of the season, thank the lord I have not renewed .
I've been saying to everyone I expect a mid-table finish this season. Nothing I've seen has changed my mind. Plymouth have been good, we've been poor. Still fancy us to beat the lower teams, but can't see a playoff push in a million years
My take on the first half... Plymouth much the better team and should be at least 2 up. Strike force non existent...we have no one to hold it up and no out ball. Midfield look ok ish but this needs some spark. We need to get hold of the football and get at them. I fear the 2nd half will be the same though.
Oh well. If they’re going to be **** they might as well start as they mean to go on. The 4 points from our first two games last season only lured us all into a false sense of optimism. Still, I wouldn’t mind a shot on target at least.
