The only thing we can do Nath is ... Trust in Duff. I know it's a bit of a cliche..
I'm happy with the appointment of Duff and thinks it's a step forward. And whoever we bring in then trust that they're the best we could get for our budget or Duff wouldn't have had em..
It may be a bumpy next few years..

If we sell Styles and Helik that just goes part way to covering the defecit. It doesn't go into a transfer kitty because we still will have a shortfall. There still won't be any money to spend.

I agree with this. It's frustrating, but it's reality. I do think that we will have some spare cash to splash if we get Helik and/or Styles shifted. I am just hoping that our top targets haven't already moved by then - whoever our top targets are.

I think we'd all prefer that. But I guess it's the situation we're in. Some of our academy players are good, but if the opportunity is there to bolster the side with a bit more quality, we need to take it. We can't spend a fee on a player, we've exploited the freebie market and most worthwhile players are now taken, the last option is the loan market and we still need at least 4 players. The Premier League players we had on loan last season were 2 of our better players (Quina & Gomes), the year before we had James, the year before that we didn't have anyone (from memory), and before that it was Woodrow. So our track record under the current ownership with Premier League loanee's has been more hit than miss.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I love Duff he's brilliant. And some of the other signings clearly had some influence from him but this one if true it to me feels like one they have done just to get a body in.

I trust Duff massively, but don't trust the board as much. My fear is that we lose a great head coach due to them being rubbish

The owners could throw 30 million in without hurting their pockets too much. Its all brainwashing the fans we need to recoup that n this to be self sufficient well self sufficient doesn't work.
Look at the clubs we are competing against we should be top 3 at least

Am I missing something here, yes we have taken a massive financial hit but so have other teams within our division.I'd like someone to show me the figures from the pigs.Unless Chansiri is still bankrolling them which I doubt ,how come they have signed a **** load of good players at this level.
Before anybody says they get circa 20,000 crowds I want to know is in reality if were getting roughly half that are we spending 50% on players and wages that they are ! I very much doubt it.

If this rumour is true, which I'm still not convinced that picture is definitely him, then at least it may be a loan with a view to a permanent move. He's 22 after all and unlikely to break into the City team.

He has scored goals in Serbia, and whilst I don't know what the standard is like, it is first team experience in men's football at least. Whatever happened at Zwolle, they took him on loan for a 2nd season, despite only 2 goals in his first season.

Don't get me wrong, he could be sh!te. He could be a 20 goal striker. We might not even be interested in him. Who knows at this stage really.

Almost everyone's record is dire when we sign them. Have we not learnt our lesson to actually wait and see them play before making second guesses about situations, teams and players we know nothing about? He could be awful or he could light up the league. I've literally no idea.

Morris was going to be awful if you read the predictions on here. Couldn't even score regularly in League One. What was Cauley? Similar feedback on Woodrow although not quite as aggressive. Attributes and how they can compliment a team are far more important than stats. For me anyway.

The fact he's played a fair bit of proper football is a plus and he's at city so must have seen something to warrant them signing him I guess.

He's also a tall striker so should offer a different option to what we have and I'd hope he would be able to cope with the physical aspect of the league. Just doesn't fill me with much hope.

Say both Wednesday's and our expenditure is 7 million. And say their income is 12 million and ours is half as much as our crowds are half as big. They've got 5 million left to spend on players. Have we got half that to spend? 2.5 million? Nope, we've got nowt. We've actually got less than nowt because our six million income doesn't even meet our 7 million expenditure.

At least Morris and Woodrow had experience over here and some clubs they did well at. Shrewsbury fans loved Morris for example as did MK Dons fans although he didn't score loads for em.

I hope this lad is good if he comes but just not an easy one to get excited about when we are desperate for goals and getting a striker in with a very poor recent record over seas

Cost Man City 3 million quid.
So he’s got to be twice as good at Hristov.

Interesting piece from when they signed him to be fair.

I was really smug when we signed Morris, because I'd actually seen him play and felt he was exactly what we were missing at the time. Of course, signing Daryl Dike and having a coach who played to their strengths also helped too. But it was one of the few times I'd been genuinely excited by a signing and they were actually good.

Jay,why would our expenditure mirror Wednesdays ? they certainly will have players on far higher wages than ours.I would imagine their annual running costs will far exceed ours.

In fairness most teams in the Serbian Premier League would beat most teams in League One. Didn’t Red Star Belgrade get to the quarters or Semis of the Europa League last season? We wouldn’t have got to the concession stand at half time.
I don’t know many players Pep has signed that haven’t gone on to do reasonably well.

Why? They've been in League 1 for years and so have a squad on League 1 wages. We've been in the Championship. Anyway, that wasn't the point, half the income does not mean you have half the amount to spend.
