But the way you feel Phil - and I get you completely - is a direct consequence of last summer. This summer has been better, like it or not. It ain't been brill, but ....... Yes we all have different opinions of players. I think we are fishing in the pond we have to fish in currently, so I am accepting of that. I'd like quality and quantity, but this year, it is what it is. Hopefully we both feel better Saturday.
You have got crossed wires with me & my head is certainly not in the sand , of course we need strengthening but it is no good inventing transfers and then blaming the club when the said transfer does not happen , things will happen but there are 30 days left in the window & as much as fans stamp their feet things will happen when they happen , you know how the window works & it is usually the dominoe effect with clubs waiting for other clubs deals to fall into place & so on & so on & of course the finalisation of the premier league squads which allows more loan deals to happen will play a big part .
Ditto, I’ve not ‘invented’ any signings and I certainly wouldn’t do it for a pampered Premier League U23 player with FA goals and games to his name. I get there’s time left in window but at the moment it seems like we’re happy to plod along with what we’ve got, when we really should be getting bodies in and getting them in with time to gel with the current group. There’s 6 games this month alone, that’s 30 points to play for. If it’s inpatient to have ambition of getting outta this league then that’s a sad state of affairs.
I’ll happily eat humble pie, and feel free to bump this, but I’ll be very surprised if we have more than 3 points come September 1st. The teams we play this month are either genuinely better than us technically or are superior physically. I expect us to draw against Cheltenham, losing heavily against Ipswich and Derby and out muscled by Wycombe and Bristol Rovers. Unfortunately we lack genuine quality and nous.
Over the past few seasons we have spunked loads of money on ***** players selling players and replacing them with worse ones.
That’s a bit different to the post I replied to though. I also don’t think you’ll find a single supporter who would disagree that the Stendel side would blitz the current one. But the situations are like chalk and cheese as you’re ignoring the elephant in the room that we’re a little bit skint right now.
We’ve always been skint though. That’s just a fact of life with a club like ours. I’m not expecting us to sign some absolute world beaters because for a start we’re Tarn and secondly we’re less attractive being in league one. But surely we can muster a few quid in transfer fees for the likes of an Alfie May and players of similar ilk. We’ve supposedly sold Morris for touching £2M (not that I believe that), Brittain for £1.5M (again don’t believe that either) and whatever we got for Woodrow. Going by reports on Twitter we’ve another supposed £2M coming in for Helik. I get we have debts and need the funds but surely a small fraction of the fees we’ve made can be used on a couple of players proven in this league. Not asking for the world here. If things are that bad then I fear for us as a club. It’s a good job I, friends, relatives and thousands more have renewed our tickets cos we need all the money we can get with the sounds of it.
Good spot! Thought I’d addressed that but apparently not, no don’t believe we’ll be getting anything like that from Poznan, they’ve never spent over a million on anyone before and can’t see them spending that on Helik. We’ll be getting about £1.5M if we’re lucky, even though for me the guy is as good as Pinnock, should be joining a Prem side this month not going back to Poland and not for owt less than £5M but hey beggars can’t be choosers!
Transfer market (who said schmidt cost us 1.1million) say it was 1.8 million. I never saw any reports that luton broke their transfer record for him.
Dude, that was the point I was making! I don’t believe it was £2M, but that’s what was touted by various sources. You’re reight Luton never said it broke their record that’s why I’m suspicious.
There were some positives in Satdys match weren't there, one or two players looking decent in the time they had as sub etc. And hopefully Duff & Paterson will learn from this. Ok its not much, but the potential is there for this team to get better, eventually. And I hope they learned a few things from players who either aren't good enough, or simply aren't interested. Patience is going to be tested here, but what can we do.
We've got to plug about 7 or 8 million quid shortfall to stay afloat, there is no money. Last time we went down we had some reserves, this time we haven't.
Yup, that’s what years of mismanagement will do to you. But it’s not going to get any better now when you consider **** like we’ve got a striker supposedly on £7K a week out on loan in the Belgian second division and we still don’t have a shirt sponsor 2 games into the season. Worrying times.
I have nothing to back this up only my gut feeling but I would imagine the manager & the club are working very hard to get some recruits in but I do believe the domino transfer mechanism will pick up speed as the days go by & I am not being smart but 6 games is 18 points not 30 but I get your point .
