Nothing much else to respond with here other than another reminder that we’re a little bit skint.

£7/£8m of lost revenue and a wage bill of £14m. Without Helik and Styles leaving there’s zero chance we have any money to throw at someone like Alfie May - who most people have seen play as much as this U23 Citeh player.

I always hear managers on about this domino effect that kicks in and transfer’s start to pick up but pound to a penny i bet we’re scrambling around for players come the 31st of august.

Yeah you don’t have to tell me that and I’m not denying it either. Just saying if we can’t spend a tiny fraction of what we’ve made thus far on transfers then it’s going to be a long arse season of nothingness.

Alfie May was an example I used because he was seemingly a stand out player in this division last season, scored 20+ goals last season (actually scored last weekend against arguably one of the strongest sides in this league in Peterborough), knows our manager, won’t command a high transfer fee nor high wages you’d imagine.

This City player may come good, his previous record doesn’t fill you with hope though and he’ll only ever be a stop gap to plug a hole this season in the striker department.

The fact he's just come off the back of a 20+ goal season, scored again last week and signed a new deal last season are all reasons as to why he would demand a fairly big fee. Much bigger than we'd be able to spend and much more than he's probably actually worth.

Would they really want to sell to the club that also poached their best manager in years too? That will possibly also add a few quid to his price if we are bidding.

I’m just going by what this journo down Cheltenham said a few weeks ago tbh…

He’s Cheltenham’s equivalent of Doug O’Kane, has sources in their club apparently.

    Surely we can afford £500K?

Ahh, never saw that. Fair play to them, wish we’d do same when our player’s valuations are touted from everyone and their mother in the press.

We've had end of last season, pre season to do our homework we should be more doggid in building a team quicker instead of half arsing about not finding anyone, we've a great chance of getting out the league quickly if barnsley got it sorted better, these investors could put money in not large amounts and get it done sooner, but we're dragging along waiting to sell players,
They're just doesn't seem to be anyone at the club with pure football knowledge and leadership, it's all a bit Arthur.
But we'll see if the owners can sort something over a zoom meeting by the end of August.

To be fair, Leon might release ‘inside info’ now and again but the club don’t need to respond to what gets touted around in the media because nothing much does.

I think the Cheltenham guy works on ‘ITK’ insiders whereas Doug has a decent relationship with the club. Amount of times he has to tweet to say he’s spoken to the club and they deny being interested in ‘x’ player.

It’s that Alan Nixon, the club needs to tell to fk off, as does every club in the UK! He actually charges people to see his rumours and stuff on Patreon. Hopefully he’ll never set up an OnlyFans account!

It's crazy that you, Higgy, are so much more knowledgeable than countless management/coaches/players in the game. Every single manager mentions experience, or lack of. Why wasn't Toney premier league standard when he signed for us? What's changed from then and now? Experience. Even if it's just experience mentally, when to run, where to run, when to drag players outwide or turn them, playing the offsides, weight of the pass. Experience is a MASSIVE part of the game.

Signing 29 year old lower league players for half a million quid, on the strength of one good season, is only likely to get us further into trouble though in my opinion. Regardless, I'd be surprised if we half half a million quid to spend on a player anyway. I take your point about developing players for other teams, but at the minute, we really don't have much other choice.

And with the greatest respect to Alfie May, his goal on Saturday was assisted by a through ball from a Peterborough player. It was harder to miss than score.

Whoever we bring in won’t effect us financially as much as Oulare. Leya Iseka won’t be on pennies either and atm he’s in and outta the squad.

Goal is a goal, May knew where to be for it. I’d have taken a goal ricocheting off Devante Cole’s arse last Saturday, same again this. Hopefully Norwood is a lot closer to full match fitness. And hopefully May doesn’t get the same opportunity against us this Saturday!

And that's why we don't have half a million quid to spend on another striker.

I'm certainly not disputing that we have players at the club who are a financial burden. I fully expect Iseka to leave before the window closes. We'll never know the details of Oulare's loan, but if we're paying any more than 20% of his wages, then that's further demonstration of negligence by the outgoing board. I guess what I'm saying is, we can't afford to take gambles like the one May represents. Norwood is less of a risk, as he's not cost us a fee, is only contracted to a 12 month deal, and does have a long history of scoring in the lower leagues. I reckon we're still a creative midfielder and a right wing back light, and for me they're more pressing than our striking options. Of course we need 2 strikers, but the supply line isn't there, we need to be creating chances first and foremost.

Aye and rather than trying to at least rectify the Oulare situation we’re leaving him out on loan.

This is actually the most bang on post in this entire thread. Parekh should’ve just been honest and said we’re selling all of our entire saleable assets and we won’t be paying any transfer fees, we’ll be heavily reliant on free agents and the loan market. He never said anything like that or it certainly didn’t seem so going by memory of his press conference.

Parekh for me comes across as a lot more likeable person to Conway, but at the end of the day he’s just the less of 2 evils. He’s been here the same amount of time as the other board members and we’re lead to believe up until this summer just sat back and allowed Conway to do what he did last season and anything prior to that.

Didn’t Parekh say something like he knows now as chairman he has a target on his back? Well if things don’t pick up that target will only get bigger and bigger and fans will rightfully turn on him just like they did with Conway and Lee.

I'm not sure how you rectify the Oulare situation, without a time machine?
