When you say "the current board" though, they're just different picks from the same original ownership team. And you also say that they won't "risk" their personal wealth. So basically you're saying our ownership have lost our pot and won't piss any more in it? Should we mot be looking to replace them, if the future they offer is so bleak? We need a sugar daddy. I suppose. Hard to find.
Exactly pal. Barnsley FC doesn’t have a queue of multi-millionaires waiting to step in and fund the future of the club.
I presume that with contingencies and unknowables and opportunities it's not impossible that they might chuck summat in? Otherwise it's too miserable to contemplate - we're down in the depths till someone does buy them out, or we all get lucky. I'm not sure why we should be supporting this lot - are there reasons why we should get behind them?
Owners come and go, being a red is a life choice. However bad it looks Barnsley Football Club will always be my club long after the likes of Lee and Conway are gone.
If reports are correct that Barnsley are prepared to sell a 26year old centre half who is an international for Poland for a measly £1.6 million then the CEO and board deserve all the critism that comes their way. Helik is worth much more than that and everybody knows it. We will of course get the old tosh' wanted to go, wants to go back to Poland where somebody is from etc. but it doesn't hide the fact that we continue to underprice our sales despite who is on the board.
It''s always my club too, but there may well come a time when it's my club from the terraces or my club from the armchair at home.
Ahh but the many think we've goy rid of the bad people from the board when we could have done with new ownership and everyone around when we were losing millions going.
For me Helik was always going to be leaving this summer, so I don’t find it shocking. I find how much we’re apparently getting for him shocking and really sickening considering the lad is such a class defender. But we’re in debt and in the third division so we won’t get the fee we know he should be. It’s a shame the lad is going back to what I’d class as a poor league, he for me could easily get in a lower bottom half Prem side or a top 6 Championship side at the very least IMO. Dreading to see how much we sell Styles for next!
If the fee of £1.6 mlion is correct for a 26year old Polish international then theBargain Basement Barnsley board have vastly undersold it's remaining assets yet again. Different board but same penny pinching attitude.
Well arnt they a consortium of multi millionaires, instead of being tight fisted and counting their pennies couldn't they invest a little bit of wealth into their toy and put their money where their mouth is, because we could do with it right now. I wonder if they would save us if we were going under.
Sure it would have a queue of business individuals who wouldnt run us at a loss pretty much every season though and rely heavily on weakening the side most seasons to bring in cash because they are useless at finding other revenue avenues.
He was shocking last season at lwb and center midfield ive not been impressed since he played under val but then again vals system made even palmer look good.
I am a big Helick fan & believe that the fee that he is supposed to be being sold for is very low however if he was that good last season coupled with his International status then why are top championship clubs etc coming in for him & topping the Polish clubs price ? There does not seem to be an orderly queue forming of potential buyers , why do other clubs appear not to be bothered ?
So basically then he can only be sold for what has been offered or of course the alternative is to hang on to him and wait whilst january.
Its a depressed market. We should calculate a valuation and stick to it. We should then only sell lower if the clubs in serious financial trouble and the reasons for the sale communicated to fans.
tricky tightrope though that. risk of going public in such a way, could just invite clubs to offer even less for our players. it's like they smell blood.
