Yeah that was a terrible pass. But other than that his passing has been pretty good today, even the longer diagonal balls. Done well today

Good win. Without significant creative players and scorers coming in I think it’ll be a long season.

We looked fairly solid defensively bar the few hospital passes. Attacking were abit toothless after we scored though we did drop deep and defended the lead well. 3 points so no complaints.

Certain Quarters sounds like a sick band name tbf, guess I’d be lead singer of it given you’re aiming this post at me. Bless ya!

As for May, he was similar to Norwood today knew where to put himself and was unlucky not to score late on fortunately for us.

Wouldn’t mind being able to have both Norwood and May at our disposal. Just my opinion like.

Everytime we are in the championship, we're expected to be near bottom though. So everytime a club plays us at home in that division, Fulham, Middlesbrough, Norwich, Sheffield United, etc etc... they'd think same thing?

Think May was really poor today. His passing was weak as p1zz too. His record shows he isn't a great striker. If he was 24/25 might be worth more of a punt with his record last season, but not worth it when he'll be turning 30 this season. Not for half a mill

Fair play lad. I’m just more bemused why the poster I replied to is seemingly trying to point score over one game where a player I thought would add something to us seemingly had an average game. I still think he would add something, again my opinion.

I was in the keep Thomas camp a couple of week back and was shot down by people saying we should sell him as he’s ‘useless’. I defended Thomas and said there’s still a player there to develop. Scored a banger today, I’m not bumping my posts from other week to score points though. Just find it a bit sad like, especially with it literally being the second game of the season. Whatever floats his boat I guess?

    Superb goal.

Stood out like an oasis in a desert of mediocrity.

    Can't grumble at the score.

My observations today....greatly improved 2nd half...so well done duff for whatever he did/said at half time.
We quickened our passing and were at it more.
Negatives....we are a team gelling. Williams positional sense worries me still...Anderson needs too much time and seems too confident.Upfront...we still need that someone to hold up and have an outball. That said its still early....
Positives, Benson was good and put himself about....Thomas was best player on the pitch by a street mile...his touch ability and pace first rate.
Let's hope we can continue to grow but we need players as we all know.

Lets be right the base for any good side is a solid defence see the stendel season even whem kieffer got injured and we struggled for goals we conceded very few davies cavare and pinnock made team of the season.. this time we have the defence we dont have the same attacking options.

I'm actually in agreement with you bud about May, I would have him here. Just not at the cost. Duff can clearly get a tune out of him, so if he was cheaper/free I'd 100% like to get him on board.

Yeah I would have liked to have kept Thomas too, more so because of Bristol rovers fans, a lot of them raving about him. Didnt expect he'd be as good as he was today though. His first touch is exceptional! Even when he's stretching to get balls, he manages to hold onto them or do a neat little pass to keep us in possession. Was absolutely fantastic today!

Well, yeah. And usually with good reason and they usually beat us.
    Fulham 4-1 Barnsley
    Middlesbrough 2-0 Barnsley
    Sheff Utd 2-0 Barnsley
Were the results last season to exemplify the point.
We didn't play Norwich but last time we did they beat us. And we haven't won there since 1937.

The role Thomas played today will really suit his game. Was never an out and out winger for me, looks much more comfortable as a 10 behind the strikers. After the last few years the lad has endured both on and off the pitch, he deserves to kick on and have a good season. Hopefully today is the start of many good performances to come for him!

Based off the two games so far it's fair to say we look solid defensively but need more firepower.

I thought we were in control today and never really troubled by Cheltenham for any sustained pressure. A couple of minutes here and there. Could’ve created a bit more like but I guess that will come in time (hopefully).

Great goal by Thomas and probably his best game for us. Hopefully the lad kick on for us now.
