8 million doesn't sound like a superstar, even if Marko is an Astronaut.

Brighton cheated their way to the Premier League, by buying loads of players that they blatantly couldn't afford and running up massive debts. Can't ever be pleased when they win. I still think things will come tumbling down on them at some point in the future, Bolton or Portsmouth style.

Meanwhile across the city Erling Haaland looked scarily ( to the other sides) ‘efficient’ against West Ham yesterday, then said he isn’t at peak fitness yet!

It's hard to want any of the prem teams to win really, most of them seem to be, a. quite prepared to walk away from UK for Super league riches, b. Cheats, c. Shysters,
In fact I'm having serious doubts about watching the world cup this year because of the bentness and human rights issues.

I'm glad Man Utd are in demise. Absolutely hate them. Back in the early nineties when the Premier League came it suited them. Arsenal and Leeds had broken Liverpool's strangle hold on the First Division and Utd crept in and overtook the bigtime Charlie's at Arsenal and a Leeds board that rested on their laurels. Their early titles were down to inconsistency at Arsenal, Leeds and Liverpool in particular. Then there was Tottenham and Everton that collectively pressed the self destruct button at boardroom level.

Before you knew it Man Utd were league champions in 1992/93 and 1993/94. Those two titles were gifts. It gave them a false superiority over the minnows that just rolled over for them. Whereas the other clubs mentioned were behind the 8 ball. On their day Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton and Spurs still had successes against Man Utd but it was sporadic.

As the nineties drew on Arsenal and Chelsea bridged the gap. However, by this time Man Utd had built in fairness a decent side that won the treble and more importantly still had a fair rub of the green.

If you look at their treble win. A Bergkamp penalty miss at Villa Park away from losing the F.A Cup Semi. Arsenal losing away at Leeds gifting them the League title and last minute goals beating a dominant Bayern Munich in the Champions League Final.

To summarise. They haven't got that fear factor anymore now teams play them on their merits. That's why I hated them. Teams used to park the bus and get picked off by them. Respect to anyone that served it up to them during their "dominant" era. In particular Liverpool under Roy Evans and Newcastle in the mid nineties.

Liverpool's demise was in no small part due to Souness coming in and telling them "forget the boot room, forget 40 years of previous success, from now on we do it my way".

    That went well.

Everton had a brain fart allowing Howard Kendal to leave first time around. Spurs had ownership issues and bad managerial appointments. I just got a feeling at the time Man Utd's superiority was more do with everyone taking their foot off the pedal at the same time.
