Not sure of the ethics around Poundland @Indie Red but I agree, it's a great shop for things like batteries, even rechargeable ones.

What on earth are you going on about here? What has my job got to do with anything? I think you need to starting counting to ten before you reply to my posts because you take them in a different direction completely. I’ll take on board your feedback though and carry on giving thankless endless hours towards the club and for the benefit of supporters and charities.

It was a conversation about what tinpot means. Maybe Poundland was a bad example, but you only have to see the viral content Walsall have got for their announcement to understand why (from our own fans). It’s nothing against anyone who shops there - just that you’re playing with a sponsor that is basically saying everything is for sale at a pound.

Just think about what I’ve said. I know for a fact I’m not the only one with this opinion.

Poundland have over 800 stores. They sell goods that are not only tangible, but essential for people at very good value. They will play an increasingly important role in people's lives in the months of hardship to come.

But apparently being sponsored by them is somehow more "tinpot" than being sponsored by an electronic fugazi helmed by an absolute 24 carat, Nimitz-class knobhead.

I’m sure you’re not. But at least acknowledge that you’ve just tried to bring in the cost of living crisis, people having to shop at Poundland, in a way as if I’ve mocked that. When the actual reasoning is because all your players, and your club, would be running around valued at a pound.

You came at me yesterday for the Alfie May post that literally had nothing to do with you, so this isn’t the first time. It’s ok not to like someone, part of life, but don’t try and dig out my posts to something they’re not. And then only reference the parts that suit your own agenda.

Just strikes me that if I was going to sponsor something , and paid up front a record amount of money I wouldn't undo all that by engaging in spats with the fans. I'd have done my homework, and not assumed all UK football fans were gullible fools.

Missed the bit where I said it was ethically questionable and agreed with you? I only suggested my definition of tinpot was a bit different. Nothing more than that.

Loko, the hours you dedicate to something doesn't make what you say OK. Without doubt, you are dedicated, and you put the time in. That is without question. I don't think what you are saying is OK anymore. I agree with Indie Red. I feel very uncomfortable saying this. Very. But there's a real a problem here. A very real problem.

And it's not jut this particular issue. It's all the time.

I hate that I've written this, but something needs to be said. I should have had the courage to say something earlier but I didn't.

Given some of the things you’re willing to say on here, including the comment I deleted the other day before anybody saw it, I’m surprised courage is lacking on this one. I’d be all ears as I’m hardly a shrinking violet and willing to discuss most things pretty openly.

For the record, I did not once suggest there was anything wrong with shopping at Poundland. But we all know for a fact if Poundland were announced as our sponsor, especially given us trying to sell players, that some comments would have been ‘Bloody typical tinpot Barnsley. Only we could come out of last season’s mess and start playing in something that advertises everything as a pound’

I’ve had a go at you a few times for the way you come across and I’ll continue you to whilst you act like you do and try to belittle people and thinking you’re better than everyone else. I just don’t find it reight someone of your status with club and it’s community acting the way you do to people.

Didn’t someone do the same yesterday to you, albeit in a harsher way? Don’t condone that guy but I understand their reasoning. Maybe that should be a sign when multiple people have brought this up with you.

Take a hint as they say.

Multiple people being four or five I’ve had clashes with and jar with in general.

I’ve not once got personal with anyone on here. I’ll continue to do that, but it’s pretty telling that you’ve ‘had a go at me a few times’. Especially when the latest example yesterday was proven to be unjust. It’s the internet, a Barnsley forum, so why should anything lead to anyone having a go at anyone?

The guy you mentioned yesterday wasn’t valid in the slightest. And I think you know that.

You deleted it because you believe that you know what is right, but you don't, and you genuinely endangered another person's life by doing so. Because that's what you do, because you're a narcissist. And I'm sorry, but it's becoming ridiculous that you're allowed to keep doing these things and acting this way,

Jay - I’m 99% confident that if the post had been allowed to stand it would have led to an influx of complaints like other posts have. So please don’t call me a narcissist. Will leave it there as this is becoming too public.

Four or five people and you don’t think that’s pretty telling? @Jay is well known member on here and has been for years and he’s in agreement with me, is that still not a sign to you?

Do what you want, it’s your life and I frankly couldn’t give a flying rats arse. My own personal opinion about you is that you’re a club stooge and brownnoser that tries to make every bad thing the club does sound like a positive when it’s not, just like the West Stand debacle last year and now this insidious new sponsorship deal.

Just think you should be aware that you’ll never be fully respected by the supporters you represent when you talk to them the way you do. Take my advice on board or don’t.

That will be Poundland that has been going since 1990, has turnover of around £1.5bn and makes an annual profit of circa. £40m.

Probably not the best example of tin pot when comparing to a ponzi scheme.

You’re entitled to your opinion, but a few of points here if I’m allowed a right to reply?

    - I never tried to make the West Stand closure be a positive. It was me personally that contacted all the local media outlets straight away, worked with Doug O’Kane on publishing something in that week’s Chronicle, and went on Radio Sheffield that night to massively criticise the club.

    - I haven’t said anything positive about this sponsorship deal. I actually contacted the club this morning to see what plans there were to clarify the announcement, face up to some of the reservations, explain concerns, etc.

    - If I was a ‘brown noser’ why did I present a 15 minute update at the BFCST AGM, in front of the CEO, that showed everything that the Trust had announced in the 18 months prior that was the club not being respectful to supporters? Criticising each of those actions? In that same meeting with the same attendees we (I) showed stats on how poorly thought of the MatchDay experience was, how that wasn’t acceptable, and that we were willing to join or setup a working group with other supporters to focus solely on getting match day catering fit for purpose

Plenty of other examples as well. Like often being the only person at a fans’ forum/Q&A to ask the difficult, supporter focused questions. And go back and forth for a better answer.

I’ll take on board your feedback, but it’s difficult when it’s personal attacks that are wholly inaccurate and unfair. Fair game beyond that.

How they respond will be interesting. It might put a few minds at rest if they mention it's been paid up in advance, it's more than previous sponsor deals and should result in a big increase in merchandise sales from new eyes watching our club around the world.

To be honest I personally am not bothered if they have paid a good amount up front and if these so called investors all buy a shirt, they need out.

Ethically it's not a good look at all, there is a thread making the rounds on Twitter of senior figures at hex including the CEO making homophobic and racist remarks all over Twitter. We don't need to be associated with groups like that.

Then there's the issue of the huge oversized logo that ruins the shirt. It may get more overseas sales but I am sure many Barnsley based fans will not want it (me included)

And the ridiculous amounts of crap fans are getting from Hex investors online via twitter replies etc. Many are slagging off the club and fans. To stay associated to this mob would be a PR disaster IMO.

Hopefully loko and the BFCST get some answers soon. Or the club puts a statement out.
