Cheers Loko. Hope we get a formal statement from the club very soon.

My greatest concern (actually, it would probably be better described as most immediate concern) is a Tweet by the club. Specifically this Tweet:

Prior to this Tweet BFC fans were discussing, on various online platforms, whether or not the club should be associated with a cryptocurrency. I'm unconfutable that we are, but that's an opinion, there isn't an objective yes/no answer to the question. By tagging Hexcrypto into that Tweet Barnsley FC opened the door and let the wolves in. They subjected their own fanbase to harassment by members of the online Hex cult (I can think of no better description of Hex followers than a cult).

The statement reads, 'the club can’t do anything to stop people interacting online'. This is true, but many of the interactions would not have taken place had the club not courted the attention of Hex followers. The club are directly responsible for many BFC Twitter fans' exposure to Hex followers.

What I would like to know is, was this simply a lapse in judgement or are the club, as part of the sponsorship deal, under obligation to promote Hex on social media such as Twitter?

What is the supporter's trust wanting?

Because if the BFCST are wanting the club to pull the sponsorship I really hope the BFCST or the other people wanting them to pull the deal are going to pay the club the two/three/four hundred thousand the club are missing it out.

Last year the maximum shirt sponsorship deal in league one was reported as being worth £150k.
I can’t see this being worth more.

A few hundred thousand is not worth the damage this sponsorship has already done to the club, not to mention future damage.

From either a financial or ethical point of view.

Like I say. I don't know the finer details of the finance but that money quite a lot.

The same people that are going around shouting the loudest about we need to sell, we need to sell are the ones been critical of this.

Sponsor the club in whatever they can if we don't need to sell Morris for so little again.

Stadium sponsor. Call it whatever someone will pay. North stand. ............

By finer details do you mean you don't know how much the contract is worth? Not sure that can be categorised as a finer detail. I think it's quite major.

Would you call it the "Jimmy Savile did Nothing Wrong Stand" for £2m?

What's their equality, diversity and inclusion policy? Do they recycle their plastics?

I personally don't care. sell another player, or take it off the player budget, or crowdfund it. i don't care how much it is. the ethical and reputational damage this is causing, far outweighs the money.

So Reds fans have to suffer with not having the very best quality side we could because a small % of the fan base aren't happy with something.

The fan base WILL NEVER 100% support anything.

I'm hypocritical of this because maybe I do it but I've seen 100 in what 10k crowd on Saturday complain about it.

Football index sponsored Forest and QPR. It didn't affect them. It doesn't affect them today. Take the money and move on.

I reckon even from a financial perspective this deal loses more than it makes. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this affect season ticket sales next year, affect other sponsors coming on board, shirt sale etc (although if some cult members buy them that might outweigh the last one)

So on that basis, if someone wanted to pay us £5m to have a swastika on the front of the shirt then you'd have no issue with it either?

Personally, I'd prefer to have some ethical standards applied to what actions the club takes.

Did you see these 100, or hear them? Or have you seen (heard) 100 voices on social media? It's a funny cross-section you describe. Just cos 100 said something, does not mean 10,900 didn't think the same.

The deal was announced late Friday - hardly time to make an informed decision by kick-off, as others have done since (thanks to all for digging and reporting).

If we keep this sponsor we will lose far more money than it's worth. People not buying kits because Hex is on them, companies who sponsor us no longer wanting their company to be associated with a business that associates with Hex, fans who have morals who will be less likely to spend money on BFC etc.
