I looked out of our bedroom window last night and saw a bright orange coloured star/ planet pretty low in the sky. What was it? I reckoned Saturn but a colleague at work thinks it could be a Supernova.
Was it in the west? If so I saw it too, definitely not a planet as it was twinkling. I think if it was a supernova it would have been all over the news as it’s a very rare event.
It was probably Hex on the way to the moon. All you have to do is transfer £1000 to Hugh Scam and he’ll make you a billionaire by this time tomorrow.
It might be Mars, i remember in 2018, there was a sighting, i also read somewhere the Earth is Spinning faster than ever. p,s, i'd just like to say it was a great programe.
Get the free planets app on your phone, point it upto the Sky (at the stars or planets you want to know about) and it Will tell you. Great cool app for viewing the night Sky. along with …. Planes for tracking flights overhead. ISS Tracker for tracking the international Space Station and My Sports Diary for following your favourite teams and sports (now with additional sports added!)
I saw a big orange ball low in the western sky about 3am and assumed it was the Moon. Surely too big for one of the other planets?
In the west early evening it's the star Arcturus. Looks bright and orange tinge. In the south low down at mid to later evening it's Saturn (looks like a reasonably bright yellow star). If it's in the east late evening and is exceptionally bright it's Jupiter. Any supernovae we can see by eye is a very rare event.
