First match is next Wednesday and we’ve chosen a squad of 14 for first two games. Crawley, Lees, Pope, Root, Bairstow, Stokes, Foakes, Broad, Anderson, Robinson, C. Overton, Potts, Leach and Brook. Which 3 players will be left out ? It’ll be 3 from Broad, Anderson, Potts, Overton or Brook I think. It’s not easy for the Selecters so what do we all think ?
At least one of Broad and Anderson will play but probably not both no idea who will take the other place.
I don't follow it all that closely, so please could somebody tell me what Crawley's done of late to keep his place?
Quite simply because we’ve tried so many other openers and they’re not as good. Also, he got 240 a couple of years ago and he’s still living on that
Brook is averaging over a hundred this season and Crawley averages 14 for his six test match innings and chances are that Brook won’t play but Crawley will. I know that opening is a specialist spot but we’ve got to find a place somewhere for Brook
Saying stuff like that is like giving us a team talk to show him he's wrong. Not good for South Africa to lose by an innings in a warm up match. He's got enough on his plate with his own team.
That statement from a Test captain is absolutely disgraceful. There can be ifs in any competitive sport but we won 3-0 FFS. In any case he has made a total fool of himself with his statement. It’s just not cricket
I know but it happened 3 times and they made errors 3 times so they deserved to lose 3 times (( you’re right though ))
I hope we continue with the same style v South Africa. Win, lose or draw it's entertaining. Not only that it's great that Bairstow and Root are getting milestones. Bairstow 5 or 6 test hundreds including the Ashes and in the West Indies. It gives confidence. As for Crawley. He isn't getting the scores but he's playing aggressively.
Whilst I rate Ollie Pope, he's not a number 3. Ben Duckett has been in good nick for a while and would be a better option. Still don't like the look of our tail enders.
With you on Crawley. He's not been brilliant but simply we don't have better. People forget he's only about 28 too, making him both relatively young and still gaining experience. He makes mistakes but he played a couple of decent innings against New Zealand. A decent pair of hands at slip too.
