Update from Doug O Kane this morning https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/a...and-wing-back-hunt-set-to-go-well-into-august
I think he's played 100+ games for Barnsley Football Club. We've had players with way more injuries than Williams, it's just frustrating when he is injured as he's a first team player.
I agree & when I say unlucky I mean the lad seems to get going & find a bit of form & then gets an injury which always seem to be long term , hopefully things change & he can get an extended run under his belt because there is no doubt about it the lad can play.
Kayne Ramsay signed for Harrogate Town today, and played the full 90 minutes against Crawley Town this afternoon. So this lad definitely isn't coming here.
Very strange this. Even says in their statement he had League One interest, which we’re lead to believe was us.
Didn't he fail his medical with us? I recall Doug O'Kane asking Duff whether the deal for the player who failed a medical was dead, and he said it was. I presumed he was referring to Ramsay, as he'd definitely been at the club.
To go from signing for us but fail a medical and at end up at Harrogate Town and play a full 90 on his debut 2/3 weeks later. Whatever he failed his medical on can’t have been that bad then. Not slight on Harrogate Town btw, I went to the friendly in preseason and thought they had a good set up and a good side for league 2 and as they’re a fellow Yorkshire side I hope they do well this season, be class if they got promoted.
Sorry but this has nothing to do with anything mate. It happens all the time. Some clubs just don't want to take punts on players depending on their medicals. For all we know we offered a lump sum + X amount of wages, but he failed his medical, so Southampton, in order to get him playing, disregarded any fee + wage payments and loaned him to Harrogate for first team football. There's a lot of issues at our club, I don't think our medical department is one of them. I personally wouldn't look too much into this
Incredible timing that on the day someone linked to us signed for someone else, we let it be known we helped out their opposition, which is something I can never remember us doing.
I mean it does have something to with Barnsley FC, he was all but our player according to Duff himself. We then are told nothing until Kane asks Duff a week later and find out he failed a medical. The player then signs for another club a league below a week later and plays the full 90 on his debut. Just find it strange, you might not and fair f’ks. Going off his experience Ramsay most likely won’t have been better than what we already have, so I’d have been looking elsewhere and still will be for a new right wing back. I massively rate Jordan Williams but he’s just not a wing back for me, he’s a good full back in a back 4 and a decent centre half in a back 3 but he doesn’t offer much in terms of attack to be a wing back IMO. Sounds daft but wing backs and full backs literally are different positions. EDIT: I also wasn’t insinuating owt with our medical team and if that’s what it seemed like that’s not the case. Our medical staff are probably the only honest and hardworking people we have at the club along with people in the ticket office.
Players fail medical all the time though and pop up elsewhere. Hartson failed medical at Rangers, went to Celtic where Martin O Neil said he didn’t care what the medical team said and signed him. Loic Remy a fully fledged French International at the time failed a medical with Liverpool and signed for Chelsea for £10 million just a couple of examples.
Yeah, I’m not disputing that happens. None of your examples were of a player that ended up signing for ‘weaker’ sides in the league below the team they were originally signing for though, just saying. Like I said previously, chances are Ramsay would’ve probably been no better than what we have, going by his limited experience and stats etc so not arsed he’s signed elsewhere. Just find it strange that elsewhere is a club league below us.
It does seem very strange signing a few weeks later and playing the whole match. Didnt realise it was permanent. Bold move then. Would love to know why we rejected him
