Is that good or bad? I'd have said it should be bigger. Just ran in France.

Could be a doubt over 5f being a bit sharp.
I still think he’ll win though.

I do however think Secret State is best bet today .. he’s done what’s been asked and is still improving as a 3 yr old

Well it has the second highest BHA rating in the race (Emaraaty Ana, rated a pound higher is 20/1 with Bet365). That win in France was in Group 1 company. The favourite Royal Aclaim has won only at Listed level and the second favourite (The Platinum Queen) hasn't even won at that level. Highfield Princess also won the Group 2 Duke Of York Stakes here in May. While I admit she hasn't yet won over five furlongs I think there can be very little doubt that she possesses the speed to. If she doesn't run on Friday then her next engagement is also a Group 1 five furlong sprint at The Curragh in September. She is either massively overpriced or I have seriously misunderstood this race!

Tis a big jump but he’s gone up 14 in ratings since getting his hcp mark so he could be on an improvement cycle.
Both victories were comfortable so it’s always difficult knowing how good he is.
He’s certainly better than trainer and owner thought.

This is what makes racing so enjoyable with considering all factors.
After all, the horse may have a headache and decide to take it easy

Love a big field handicap, despite their difficulty. Can't beat really getting stuck into form lines - plenty of these have run against each other over course and distance over the years.

I've landed on Dusky Lord as a decent bet at about 10s. First time blinkers. Bottom weight. Reasonably well drawn I think.

You were right he didn’t quite make the step up but the irritating points are that he was well clear of the third and he held the winner on form from a previous race

    Think he blew the start?

Last twice he's led from pillar to post and he didn't look comfortable early on to me whilst behind horses.

It wouldn’t have helped but the winner won easily.
    What about Baaeed eh ?
Got to be best horse in my lifetime and that includes Nijinsky, Frankle, Brigadier Gerrard and Shergar etc

    What indeed, x11?

Well, the Sporting Life website reports that Timeform have provisionally assessed Baaeed at 137 following yesterday's romp. He could not have been more impressive, and is clearly the top European horse currently operating, and probably the best in the world. But the best in your lifetime?

Timeform on their website list the top rated horses they have assessed in the 70+ years in which they have published their assessments in the current form. They list no fewer than 17 horses rated at 139 or above in their time. My further research also uncovers Alleged, Exbury and Nijinsky who were all rated 138 in their prime. Standing imperious above them all of course is Frankel, on 147. Just imagine that. A horse who could give Baaeed ten pounds! I was lucky enough to be on the Knavesmire when he won his Juddmonte International ten years ago by seven lengths from two previous Group 1 winners. It was (and probably will remain) the best thing I've witnessed on a racecourse.

Baaeed is unlikely to take his rating up further at Ascot in October on what will be his final appearance - the ground has often softened by then. He should then have a mighty career at stud. But will Frankel ever be bettered? I doubt it in my lifetime.

I've just dabbled in £2 win singles and 20p e/w Lucky 15's today.

It's a bit pot luck if I'm being honest. Won't reveal my selections because I've just backed in clusters.

I had three winners and some nice places yesterday though. However, the two Godolphin good things let me down as did El Bandagon finishing third.

As for the Juddmonte. Well done to Baaeed and it's backers.

Yes we’ve got to respect Timeform and Frankel is/will be 2 or 3 higher in posterity.
The ratings were reassessed about ten years ago so Frankel stands at 140.
My statement was made on the same day of Baaeed’s stroll over 1m2f and Mishriff is no donkey so I was still a bit giddy!
The biggest shame is that such animals don’t race beyond 4 years obviously for commercial reasons but that’s life.
Baaeed is definitely up there with Frankel and other greats although maybe a bit behind.

Willie Carson talked glowingly after yesterdays race… first time I’ve seen him interviewed for a while ??

It’s a wonderful thing is t’internet … just seen that Frankel won his 1st race at 7/4 and all his other 13 were at odds on.
He was 1/10 for Juddmonte !!

    Purple Love 1.10 Newbury tomorrow.
Rockfel Stakes and Fillies' Mile entry.
Already backed from 5/1 - 10/3 with Bet365 if you can get it.
